ok got an e-mail about my noble human saying that my family sword and shield where stashed in castle and my mother might know where but never saw a option while talking to mother to locate, any help would be appreciated ty

they are in the treasury (armory) and your mother has the key.

After you get your mother in your party, you go out into the hallway and there is a cutscene where you and her talk about how you should proceed. One of the responses is " Is there anything else we can do" or something similar. Choose that and she tells you about your family sword and that she has the key to the treasury.
