Perhaps the simplest way to look at this situation from a fairness standpoint, is to look at the romance options themselves. For MaleSheps who romanced Ashley, there are 3 new romance options. Same if they romanced Liara. For FemSheps who romanced Kaiden, there are also 3 new romance options. However for FemSheps who romanced Liara, there are NONE. Granted, I know there's Kelly and a few others, and thats great and all, but they don't exactly count as full fledged 'romance options', more like 'better than nothing' . Aside from all the other arguments and debates, that point right there, to me, is pretty much definitive. Obviously there are a TON of players (like myself), both male and female, who preferred playing as FemShep, and who preferred Liara. They shouldn't be the only ones to not get any new romance options in ME2, its just not right. It was supposed to be a matter of fact, that if you had a love interest from ME1 you were going to have the option to leave them for somebody new in ME2 (not that I would want to leave Liara, she's awesome, although I might if the alternative was Tali, she's my favorite), and yet FemSheps who romanced Liara have no such option, and thats just plain wrong. I hope that this inequitable situation can be effectively addressed in a future DLC/patch/mod/whatever, as it certainly needs to be.

I go to there website, See John Shepard in the background, look at the commercials, See everyone talking about John Shepard, and then see John Shepard talking in the commercial.

I'm not against having gay relationships in the game, but I don't think it will happen. I don't think it's right to say that ME2 must have it cause DA:O had it or something like that, you've got to keep in mind that both games were made by different bioware teams, and not by the same developers. But sure, if it's possible, give us some gay action.

No. He exists for marketing purposes only. This has been confirmed by Bioware time and time again.

People are getting all sorts of pathetic now, insisting that only their Shepard is real...In a game where the ability to customize the main character is the main selling point. I wonder at what point will folks start to insist that the only real Shepard is the Renegade Shepard because he's always in the official vids?

Because wanting to deny other people options even though they do nothing to damage your gaming experience is not only bigoted; it's downright moronic to actually pay attention if you don't care. No-one forced you into this thread; it's extremely easy to ignore if you don't like it.

And it would have been extremely easy for you not to buy the game knowing full well ahead of time that there was never going to be a gay option. Were you "forced" to buy it then come here and complaian?

How do you know what hurts the gay cause? I'm just asking for an OPTION, it doesn't have to interfere with your game at all unless your illiterate and can't read a flirting line. I wish I could transport you into the game and use a grenade launcher on you with no shields.

I have seen so many renditions of this thread I am sort of tired of it. It is the same argument back and forth. The only things we have established are:



Bioware got burned with ME 1 as idiotic television shows played up the tame sex scene (which in a movie would probably slide into a PG or, at worst, PG 13 movie)



Bioware noticeably got more conservative in ME 2's romances, as even the love scenes cut to black a lot quicker and you hear more kissing than see it!



Every recent Bioware game has included a same sex option of some kind. Jade Empire went so far as to have two men be able to get together! ME 1 had the same, but some verbal gymnastics by Bioware distanced themselves from Asari's as F/F romances...



These are the facts. We can argue forever about Bioware's motivations, but I think it is clear that the bad media in the first game had some influence on their behavior when it came to romances, same sex or otherwise.



My hope? That with ME 3 Bioware gets the creative freedom to do whatever they want to wrap up the last game. Screw censors, let us go out with a bang! And that goes for romances or anything else that might have been "toned" down for the audience.



Also, as I said in another thread, the romances better pay off damnit! I am going to be mad if after three games and four or fives years, the last romance scenes in ME 3 are just "man I love you!" and then they end.

A game which prides itself on the player's ability to make significant choices, including that of a romantic partner, and to craft your character into your own liking. Yes, it denies a significant option from many people.

Had you actually paid some tiny spec of attention to this thread, you would know that I am, in fact a straight male. I wouldn't use the gay option if there was one. However, here's the thing: unlike you, I'm not just thinking about myself. I think that people who are different from me deserve options too. I think that a game that doesn't take into account such a significant option when it does carter to all the others (though F/F is sorely lacking in ME2, as well, despite of getting a lip service) reflects on it badly.



I found the Garrus romance threads utterly silly, but I never went into them to whine how their very existence would ruin my game. And look now, those threads were actually listened to by the devs. They were cartered because they made noise. Hence, these threads follow the suit.



So "gay mindset" for you, indeed. Don't let the door bang you on your way out.
