Possibly a 'hardening' that can go either way - one that basically sets him up to become a "typical" blood mage (but in the service of the Grey Wardens) as the evil option, but on the completion of his personal quest you can also get him to just get over it and take responsibility for himself and his own redemption - essentially, leaving his desire for such intact but forcing him to quit whining and grow something of a spine.Tekkaman Saber wrote...
I've seen whinier characters >_>
I think he could of just had a hardening option like leliana and Alistair to fix his whiny nature.
Then just grant him a power of greyskull/moment of awesome and vala good bye whiny Jowan and hello tough hard as nails blood mage jowan.
Seriously after Wynees callus comment I would happy to be rid of her >_>

I'm not too fond of outright evil characters, so giving him room to grow in a more positive way would have been nice.
It's not the sound of the voice I dislike and found unnerving, it was the whiny pitch in it. Jowan did have many problems, but he also sounded like he felt sorry for himself. But there was definitely a good base here for the character.
This could be spoilerish. I don't think so, but it could be thought of as such:
As for busting out Lily, I'm not sure. Would she have wanted it? I don't know, seeing as how the Origin ended. But agreed, having a Blood Mage coming along would've made the game all the better. I don't think that blood magic is all that abhorent, seeing as how it is a specialty that can be chosen in-game.

Yah... I am thinking after a holiday to the sunny Aeonar Fortress that Lily would be happy to be rescued
She was pious, perhaps stupid, but the Aenor is an ultra-prison where Apostate Mages and Abominations are kept... and apparently dumb girls.
For me, this felt like a reason my Warden would want to break into Aenoar with Jowan.
I think that would be a great story...
If only we went a thousand miles near it in Awakening... not even close, i think!
I actually posted a thread about Jowan being a possible companion in Awakening... thinking that a lot of the scripting work for him as a character may have been done already, but as David Gaider commented elsewhere, he was cut at an early stage.
There is also a thread about Jowan as dlc!!
Whiney boys have fan clubs, it seems...

If Jowan was in my party I would have to stop every five minutes to ask him why so many of the people we are encountering on our journey together sound exactly like him.

I disliked him a great deal. His voice, his whining, the fact that he's a weak-willed maleficar... The list goes on.
