Well, as shown above it's easily fixable, for the community to do, it would stand to reason that if bioware included such an option that it would be more stable and would keep the consistency of the world they created imo.
I see your point, and agree it's not a big issue, but even to me it's an issue and it'll bother me now if I ever play an elf.
Elven ears look like human ears with points.

it's like saying that dwarf NPC got normal ears and dwarf PC got horns in it's place, wont you feel odd when walking around as the only dwarf with horns instead of ears? cause this gives us (at least me) elf players the same kind of feeling. if the defs made up that your elf character is half-human and half-elf then I would have piece with it, but since it's not I see it as a technical issue if they dont state the reason why.

shall I point it out again? Your playable character is user configurable. It looks the way you decide it should look within the parameters of the face generating module.
It looks how you make it look.
How about my forum picture. Would you say that it's a typical dwarf? Should I complain that it does not look like all the other dwarfs because I chose to not add a beard?

I have to agree with Zoot this is a forum for 'Technical' support not artistic. Visual discrepancy belongs to the modders forum where they change parts of the game not int he technical support where we fix what is broken.
Though I don't agree with flaming the guy about it.

I don't see how just because you can design your face has anything to do with the ears of npc and pc being different. you'd think it'd be quite simple to give elves their own ears to edit (read scale the size and placement cause thats all you can edit) instead of just an human/dwarf ear with a point at the end.
I wouldnt even be arguing this if the npcs themselves had similar ears to the pc ones.
It's simply inconsistent. It's not something you can CHOOSE to have, flat elf ears or wide ones, you cant choose npc elf ears at all unless you edit the model of your character (which is stupid to have to do to keep the designs consistent)
As for your analogy, realistically i could just grow a beard if i was a dwarf, its not like i can grow myself some differently shaped ears

I understand where you are coming from and you have argued your point sensibly and politely. I'd be happy to continue a discussion about it ( I'd probablt be prepared to work on a model fix ) but I'm not prepared to do it here.
This forum already suffers ffrom a boken search, a lack of moderation and therefore multiple repeat posts of the same issue making it impossible to keep good info on the first page and i'm not prepared to condone threads that are not tech related by continuing to post in them ( I know, but Jesus, he called me a retard, I had to make my point

I'd be embarrassed if that was not actually a monumental thing
Sadly it now means I'll get pedantic and tell people to use the search
