I just bought a schematic but it didn't show up in the research section. When I buy it, does that mean it automatically gets applied? I thought you bought the upgrade then used resources to apply it.
Ok I'm confused about the upgrades you buy

Ok I hate to bump but I'm worried this might be a glitch. Armor upgrades are grayed out for me and when I buy the biotic damage upgrade or the shield upgrade it doesn't show up there. So if it is supposed to show up there then that means that once a category is grayed out then you can't do anymore upgrades in that area due to a glitch.

You might need to research lower ranks for it to show up sometimes.

I think it depends on the schematic you purchase, for example a weapon damage mod schematic would upgrade automatically whereas a gun schematic would need the actual resources put in, but I could be wrong.

I have the lower upgrades. This would be the 4th. It shows up in my upgraded section but I didn't lose any materials and it did it automatically. So I'm wondering if it actually applied.

I hate to bump a one year old thread but I have a similar problem just now, I bought the 4 upgrades in the science-building on tuchanka and the only one that showed up was the shotgun-upgrade. Now normally if it's to high-level upgrade it will say "requires X more upgrades" and the're greyed out, but three of the upgrades doesn't even show up in the list for me, is it a bug or is it perhaps because I already had those upgrades somehow?
If it's because I already had the upgrades I should probably load my last save and only buy the shotgun upgrade, no need to spend my money on useless upgrades.

Some upgrades you get automatically, some you have to research. You get them, without the mineral cost.

If you purchase an upgrade from a store, you automatically gain its benefits.
