Is this just a joke gun put in by the coders or some kind of bug.
The thing just shoots bubbles out the barrel and does no damage to any eneny.
Thought it was supposed to be like a mushroom cloud explosion, instead I get the feeling of running around in a meadow blowing bubbles while being chased by a hive of angry hornets.

You have to have 100% ammo in it, which means it'll take a while to get enough. I took me 1½ mission to gather enough ...

It's a totally amazing big bang, that can destroy bosses in 1 shot. But it's pretty useless, since you only get 1 shot every once in a while.

I used it at 145% on a SWARM of husks and collectors and it fulled wiped out the entire battleground. It was AMAZINGLY awesome to see! However, I only had enough ammo to fire it once and then switched to another heavy weapon. I'd love to use it one time against the final boss. hehe

Is it even possible to get 200% ammo for this gun? Even with extra ammo packs and heavy weapons upgrade? The best I got was 190% :-(

Like what everyone has already said above, make sure your ammo count is atleast 100% before you even try to fire. Has got to be my second favourite weapon in the game next to the anti-material sniper rifle.

Makes those difficult moments on insanity more bearable not to mention the beautiful mushroom cloud. The most satisfying moment for me was when I used the cain on a gunship, I thought I missed it and was like "oh damn" but then the missile curved to the left and collided with it, beautiful.

I played through again and made 100% sure to get all upgrades and the armor piece for increased heavy weapon ammo. I'm very disappointed to find that still only the ammo count still reaches only 190%, meaning only 1 shot :-(((

Sounds like it was intentional

Doesn't work.  I saved it for the last fight and it didn't do anything.

You mean it doesn't kill him or it doesn't fire. If it's not firing that just because you need to hold down the trigger for about 4 seconds before it fires. If it doesn't even hit him... then that just sucks.

ok, you can get it to 200%, i was sentinel, don't remember how, but I had it at 200% (might have been additional 10% from a skill.

also, its tricky to use on last boss, but, one hit (in his eyes, on normal) takes him to 50%... so very useful. clears rooms of those big mechs and minibosses in one shot. My favorite weapon.

I've been wondering about the Cain heavy gun for the end boss. Has anyone compared to see how well the various heavy guns work against it?

I'm curious if the Blackstorm might be better since it has more shots ... assuming you can hit the boss with it unlike where I tried using it on some of the flying vehicle bosses in missions. The shot passes through the ship and continues onward till it hits the end of the map. If it does that with the final boss, I'd be disappointed.

Think I remember when looking thru the things you get to choose from with the N7 armor, there is something that adds to heavy armor capacity.
I'll look.

Yep just loaded up and it is on legs (Ordnance packs) it adds 10% to heavy weapon ammo.
There is your missing  ammo whomever posted they could only get to 190%.

Just heading off to get kidnapped right now, see who gets fed to the husk machine. Hope it's Tali, her voice annoys the h**l out of me. If she lives I'll try using the cain on her, send her to scout ahead and whamo nuke right in the back.. :P

Interesting :-) Couldn't find anything about ammo-increasing skill on http://masseffect.wi...om/wiki/classes, though. Will try myself.

I think I had it to 190% as well and only used it once on the Derelict Ship Core for a one shot kill on normal...lol

It's a tactical choice. On side missions or discovered missions I'd pack the Collector particle beam or the missile launcher, but on main quests when I was pretty sure there'd be something massive at the end (thresher maw on krogan world, geth giant walker when rescuing Tali, Eclipse gunship on Justicar quest) I'd bring the Cain and end it all with one shot. With the upgrades that stretch out the ammo you can usually collect enough to get to 100%.

I'm using the Ordnance packs, and I have the 6 heavy weapon ammo upgrades, but I still can't bring the Cain above 190%. I think it was intentional.

No clue if I ever even got this to 200% or even tried to use the gun as it has been 8 months since I posted and also played the game. Don't even remember if I even finished the game or not as I get bored real quick killing the same things over and over and just move on to another game.
Only play most games once as well so this one is just one of many in the over 100 used/played games I have. Disk will probably never see the light of day again. LOL

You can get 200%, odds are you already have it but dont know it, the game has a funny habit of forgetting you are wearing the extra ammo pack armour options (both heavy and regular), quicksave and quickloading fixes the problem.

I love this gun, kills the thresher Maw and final game boss so quickly its almost not funny. Oh yeah, the mission where you have to kill three heavy mechs to save a bunch of crates, this gun is a godsend, just be sure you have atleast 100% ammo on it. Start charging it the moment the crate counter comes up on the screen and aim it at the first mech's feet when you round the corner (you can move while the shot is charging [about 5 seconds], awesome eh?) with no small amount of luck all 3 will be vapourised in the blast.

For extra cool points, quote "Say hello to my little friend!" just before the gun fires :D
