them to make a male/male romance??? Or Atleast have downloadable content. And they expect me to keep spending money on this fanchise. I really disliked not being able to romance Kaiden or Garrus in ME1 (but ofcourse the community finds gay audio files atfer the fact) And now I have to screw Miranda??? I already banged that annoying shrew Ashley and now I have to piledrive that stuck up Australian ****?? No thanks. Kind of Sad I have to make a female Shepard atfer 9 hours of play just so I can have a freakin romance in this game. My shepard is a war hero, he hasn't earned the right to have sex with a man??

No seriously. It annoys me as much as you but let's keep it to one thread.

Shep was straight (technically) in ME1 and will be all the way through to ME3. Just because you can choose which page the story turns to next doesn't mean the story must deviate from their design so much as to fill everyone's individual psychoses.

You also cannot have sex with a dog, horse, monkey or a female with only one breast.

You want to rewrite the CYOA? Go find a CYOA book and scribble in it. Stop trying to project your gay fantasies on a straight main character. You only make the rest of us look bad. If we don't have a choice in what we find attractive, then who's to say that straight guys aren't actually straight?

*sigh* No he wasn't. Shep has no set orientation. Honestly get that out of your head now. Shep doesn't have to have an LI. He has no set orientation.

He either chooses a LI or doesn't. He doesn't choose any male LI at any time. That's it. That's the story they wrote. No male LI for male Shep. Period.
Also, do not discount that the OP said they wanted their (straight as written) Shep to romance a straight comrade in ME1.

Of course because not having sex with anyone defaults someone to being straight [/sarcasm]

Don't you understand what an RPG is? Shepard doesn't have a fixed gender, race, or appearance. He or she has no fixed personality or morals. There's nothing inherently straight about him/her. Bioware tells us that YOU are Commander Shepard. YOU are supposed to decide who Shepard is.ReggarBlane wrote...

Male relationships are still at a growing point, growing to be accepted that is. It would be unwise of Bioware to be the first to unleash such content. They would probably get SOOOOO much flack. I could even imagine certain places refusing to sell it. Don't blame Bioware. Blame society for not widely accepting gay men, yet.
The fact is though. They already have. T_T

Yet we're allowed to have a lesbian (and if you argue asari "technically" aren't female, I will gut you) with a female Shepard because it's super-hot, right? Damn, I love that human-on-blue-space-woman action!ReggarBlane wrote...

Frankly, this kind of attitude is pretty offensive to me. BioWare were content to give the player the chance to pursue non-heteronormative relationships in both Jade Empire and Dragon Age, yet in Mass Effect the closest players have is what is essentially a girl-on-girl sex fantasy reproduced for the assumed straight male audience. I get the sense that Mass Effect does not include these sorts of things simply because it is targeted toward a more mainstream audience than BioWare's more complex role-playing games, and this is somewhat disturbing to me, and, evidently, several other players.
As I mentioned, these have already been explored in Jade Empire and Dragon Age.NickolasDS wrote...

suggestive as one might think? Who am I to know?

Dragon Age which hilariously enough came out a few months before this game.
Jade Empire had black screens for everything so *shrugs*
warning: the scenes are bound to induce laughter (honestly underwear sex who thought that was a good idea?)

Dragon Age: Origins. Search "Zevran" from YouTube. It's quite suggestive, and the man hits on you almost aggressively. So yes, it's been done, and ME2 is a step backwards in this field.
While it doesn't personally touch me, I prefer to see options cartered to all kinds of people, and gay gamers aren't an entirely insignificant market.

Yet we have the supposedly non-canon Renegade path through the game, as well as the supposedly non-canon female Shepard. Justify those ones, please?Zack Ross wrote...
..... Seriously? Another thread about a gay romance for Commander Shepard? I mean... wow. Never going to see it in Mass Effect, sorry. It would mean canon Shepard, as in the one you see in all the material could be Gay. He isn't, and personally it doesn't bother me one bit. Its a video game, none of the romances really interest or effect me either way. I can think of far more important things going on in the world to be miffed about than the lack of a certain romance option in a video game. I mean... c'mon.

/facepalm at the thought that people think sexual orientation makes you act a certain way or make you unable to perform certain jobs.

Seriously, there is no cannon Shepard. There is a promotional Shepard and your Shepard, who is supposed to have your personal touch.

Same way I justify Revan having the possiblity to return to his Sith lord roots and not go and jump into bed with Carth Onasi. Its called Light and Dark. You get to play the bad guy if you really want to, even if its not the "canon" storyline. It personalizes it for you, its your storyline. Also I resent the idea that I believe you can't do certain things if you gay. I'm bi for god sakes, what I'm saying is I think there are more important concerns in life and in this game than the love interest you chose.
I mean seriously, all this disgruntled behavior because you can't romance a male character with a male Shepard. Hell even the female/female relationships were put in this game to cater to the broader audience who enjoys that sort of thing, and I'm not talking about the lesbian community either. <_< If you want to bash me simply because I don't agree with your crusade on the matter, and how you refuse to let it go even though all I'm telling you to do is calm down, take it as it comes and just deal with it then thats your problem. By canon I meant the promotional Shepard obviously, whom they'll never risk putting in bed with another male. Look at the hatred and bigotry in the world and you'll see why. Even the option for male/male romance would make a certain audience not buy the game, and Bioware is trying to appeal to all, including the knuckle draggers.

Very sexy.
Oh well. At least fanfiction exists. I can make default Shep! as gay as I like.
And Kaiden/Thane/Garrus too. Yay!
