First of all, I'd like to thank guys @Bioware for such a SF masterpiece. Mass Effect 2 is certainly the most consistent attempt at combining a solid interactive storytelling and an addictive action/adventure game I've ever seen... I must admit I'm quite impressed!
However, I experience quite an annoying issue with the game; I tried to investigate it, and although I'm clearly not the only one to suffer from it, I could not manage to find a fix.
I play the French PC retail version of the game (limited edition), and most speech lines (almost every of them in fact) are truncated: it sounds like characters stop speaking 2 or 3 words before the end of their sentences, even when no other character answers afterward. In fact, it kind of feels like sound plays delayed, totally out of sync with picture ; or maybe like picture played too fast for sound.
(Note that in the intro movie, that was the opposite : picture & sound got out of sync, but sound played far ahead of picture.)
Here is what I tried :
- Enable/disable Vsync
- Lower my sound card settings (24bits/48000Hz to 16bits/44100Hz)
- Enable Creative Alchemy
- Switch from full French to English audio with French subtitles
Here is my rig:
AMD Phenom II X4 940 / 3300Mhz (220*15) / 6GB DDR2 PC6400
nVidia GeForce 9800 GT X2 (SLI) / 1024Mo / 196.34 drivers
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro Series / 2.18.0013 drivers
Windows 7 Home Premium x64
DirectX 10
Note: could be the same as this issue.

OK, found a fix in this thread: it comes from CPU overclocking, and getting back to CPU stock frequencies worked well for me.
Hope
Bioware gonne fix that in a patch, so users can run their hardware at
the speed they want... In the meantime, I found using the nVidia system tools (nForce users only) to load a custom, non-overclocked profile when launching ME2 was a good workaround.
