For me, ME2's soundtrack cannot go without the game, meaning that if I listen to it outside of the game itself really doesn't have the same... "punch", the same "meaning". My feeling with ME2's soundtrack is that the music of it is a direct narrative in musical form for each given maps or missions. If played at the same time then I LOVE the soundtrack, it fits in the whole game seamlessly...
BUT...
What I loved about ME1's soundtrack is that I could listen to most of the tracks without playing the game, just you know, while browsing the web or just listening to it with my 7.1 surround sound system in my living room just for the kicks and it was (and still IS) awesome. It's strange, it's just the way I myself perceive both soundtracks. I love them both, it's clear, but as I said above for me ME2's music is dependent on the game itself, whereas ME1's music can be enjoyed any time, out or inside the game, but that's just me guys don't take this too profoundly, to each our own.
