So, title of the thread says it all. Ive tried a number of drivers including back dated one with no success.

Anyone have a solution for this problem?

It isn't only the video driver you need to experiment with reinstalling / updating.  Almost equally often, if not even more commonly, it is the the Windows OS's Dx9/ Dx10 APIs that are somehow corrupted and need a reinstall (by which I mean you may need to install the very latest Direct3D from Microsoft), but always start by trying the Dx9 on your game disk..

Do not become confused by this relationship of the game to the older Direct3d version if you use Vista or Windows 7.  Your native Direct3D is primary, and goes into Windows first, but it isn't adequately backward compatible, so the game itself comes with an older version to install, if needed, and the two Direct3D versions work together just fine.

This game (and the two current Mass Effect games) uses the PhysX for CPUs, not the one strictly for nVIDIA hardware.  Rarely that program can become defective and trigger this error message.  Occasionally, the game itself needs a reinstall in this situation.  When you have tried a couple of video drivers, and a Dx9 reinstall, and even a game reinstall, and cannot avoid the message, you can assume that you have a defective video card (or for someone other than the OP, attempting to use some other video card, perhaps you just don't understand the card naming).

P. S.  Just in case anyone new pulls up this thread in a search sweep for the error message involved, there are other causes for the error message to appear besides the purely mechanical failure of the graphics hardware, or a software screwup in drivers + Direct3D + game.  You also can't mix screen settings among various types of display ratios.  Check other threads from the search you've made for more information.
