he's a bit plain imo but a definite improvement over ME1 where he was dull and sent me to sleep literally

To which I answer "I'd rather boink a girl than a guy.". ^_^

I've never had a problem with maleshep or Mr. Meer. Better than femshep? That's opinion, I enjoyed playing maleshep more than femshep. Though, I do agree that the voice acting is better in ME2 than ME1, overall.

For me it's both really. Love Jennifer Hale's voice as much as Liz Sroka's - so why not enjoy both?

As for the virtual love-interest thing, don't bother with it - seeing some virtual guy doing some tastefully teen-rated petting with a virtual girl is just a painful reminder that maybe need to get out more irl.

Lesbian love/sex with a blue alien who looks human minus the hair part.... was what made so many people choose a fem shepard to begin with.... not gonna lie, someones gotta be up front about it haha...

I was a bit disappointed with her not being able to romance subject zero or anyone but kind of samara, who's ancient...... yet the very nice addition of the "on call" thing with Kelly was a definite plus and surprise for me.... not to mention it still kept my characters relationship with Liara in good standing (the picture was still there)... now that I've done everything in my first playthrough, I can relax and go through with different characters and doing different choices... just made a male shepard so I can try the romances with Tali, SuZe, & Miranda.... too bad u can't have more than one at the same time.... or else it would be me Tali & SuZe cruising off in the distance occasionally checking in on Joker & EDI for the comedy and on the side bringing Kelly up to the room,

There's a great Mark Meer interview here.

Even if people still dislike his voice acting, I defy anyone to dislike the man after that. He's awesome.

And, yeah, I thought he was a fine Shepard in ME1 but better in ME2.  Hale's fantastic, obviously, but I while I thought her better than Meer back in ME1 now I think they're more or less on an even footing when it comes to being Shepard.

myself, i find MShep renegade to be better than FemShep renegade, but FemShep paragon to be better than MShep paragon, personal opinions ftw.

Yeah he does sound cool from that interview.. very down to earth and chill.

But, I don't think it's his voice acting that is lacking.   I think it's the scripting.  The script seems so much better suited for a tough, yet charming female shepard.   They should've changed it up for the male, get the same point across but change it up.   That would really add depth and replay value, not to mention keep people from skipping dialogue's on other playthroughs as the opposite sex.

Still, he did fine... I just really think the words being said came out better from a female shepard... that's my take on it.  He reads what's written, he did fine there.... but it really seems like it belongs to the fem shepard.... every piece of dialogue was just so fitting.... they should've made it a bit more manly when playing as a male shepard.  Even though most of it is very confident, it's more like girl power confident not Men pwnnn and Women love us for it confident.

I'm guessing you missed the romance chat with Mordin. So very funny.

Renegade Male Shepard is the best. His deadpan delivery is perfect for a ruthless space marine. A perfect example is, "You're working too hard."

My male Shep doesn't look anything like the pre-generated one that's on all the box art and wallpaper. He's got brown hair and looks kinda like James Purefoy, a celebrity crush of mine. The only thing I don't care for is the voice acting with him. It's flat and bland. My male Shep is dating Tali because I don't care for Miranda or Jack.

I personally found Mark did a way better job then Hale in ME2. I think it might have to do with the huge improvement in acting tho.

I loved the voice acting of Jennifer Hale in both. It's just that there are less epic moments in 2, and the dialogs aren't written as well as they were in 1.

Femshep all the way :) The voice also happened to fit perfectly with the custom Shep I created.

Hale sounds the same as in the first, with a lot of cheese. Meer however, improved. I prefer Meer.

You could say he's a little stiff, but I think his redeeming factor (at least for Paragon Shepard) is that he sounds like the kind of guy who would be in the military. I knew a couple of guys in high school who were dead set on the military (particularly the Marines) who were just like that. Then again, I've never played a Renegade male Shepard, but I can see how that voice might be somewhat lacking there.

Meer's voice was always better for Renegade, even in ME1. Therefore you should be pleased if you ever do play a Renegade.

IMO, as of ME2 Meer and Hale are voicing at around the same quality, just different. FemShep sounds like a relatively normal woman, ManShep sounds like a soldier.

Honestly, I prefer Mark Meer. I didn't really notice the few flat lines in ME1, but the improvement here is still tangible for me (if less so). Personally, I think that he's alright in the emotive scenes (particularly on Jack's paragon romance. Thoughts on that?), and regarding the whole "hugging Tali" thing, I feel he did a really good job of that. Assuming you get the loyalty quest soon after recruitment, then you haven't really started a relationship yet, but she's still a valued crew member, and a friend, in a moment of extreme pain. Comforting her without going completely over-emotional seems like the right thing to do.

One thing I have a problem with, but it's nothing to do with either of the voice actors: the horrible puckered grin on male Shepard's face when he comments on Miranda being perfect ('Investigate' option, I think). Serious dropping of the animation soap there.

I have no issue with Meer/Male Shep, although I have a strong (and biased) preference for Hale/femShep and her delivery. Meer's definitely improved for ME2, though. :)

The only Meer line from ME2 that fell flat that I can think of right now is "It's OK. C'mere" in the Tali romance scene. It needed to be much more sensitive, but it came across as horndog.

One line I can think of where his delivery was great is when talking to Conrad Verner he says "So, you just wonder the galaxy, righting wrongs?" in an extremely deadpan snarker kind of way.

I don't like male Shephard because of the voice actor.

That voice actor is great... i actually reinstalled my Game because the german Voice Actor is so horrible... i couldn't stand him anymore. Compared to that one the english voice sounds pretty great for a Spec Ops. I hope they keep him around for another round.

Mark Meer has always been good enough for me, Hale not so much, I rarely play a female Shepard, just not my thing.
