Disclaimer: i'm making this post to stir anything up, cause problem just to say thank and get other people thoughts on this character.

with the Disclaimer out of the thank you bioware, for this as to be the frist if not one of the few game that have Serious African america, that doesn't play off of any stereotypes, and it done so well that it didn't click in my head till my second playthrought.  in which instead of giving us some street smart wise ass, a clean cut 3d character.

and when i say clean cut i mean he does use slang talking proper english. but i'm curious how other people feels about the character, also i would like to note that i never play galaxies so i don't know how he talk or acted in that one.

Jacob is good guy like him, he's straight up. Well my Shepard is African-American so the two homeboys hang out in the armory all the time.

Jacob is indeed awesome, and his loyalty mission was very disturbing and unique in my opinion. After the suicide mission's over, my Shep definitely goes drinking and clubbing with Garrus, Grunt, and Jacob. Of course, the guys, especially Garrus, bust my poor Shepard's chops about being taken by Tali and unable to do much flirting.

Jacob is awesome. He's one of the most "down to Earth" guys on the crew, no pun intended. I liked how he balances the good and bad of Cerberus, and I totally understand why he joined them.

He's only a great African-American until they reveal he's from London like Anderson.

Really liked Jacob. He mirrored my own concerns about working with Cerberus--they've got an incredibly shady past, but they are quite literally the only ones doing anything about the abductions, so he'll work with them to put a stop to it.

I am also glad to see more diversity without the stereotypes. I just wish there was more.

I'm half Asian and I get really annoyed that in most entertainment (movies, TV, video games) you never see a male Asian in any prominent role unless they break out the 'kung-fu' and speak broken English.

That's why I loved the Harold and Kumar movies.  They were totally normal guys, yet no one could get past their ethnicities.  I've lived in 7 countries (mostly developing) and have always had to explain how no matter the ethnicity, someone can still be American or British or whatever.

I also think Jacob was an excellent character.  Extremely genuine character who just wants to do the right thing, even if that means working for the "wrong people," for a time.  His admiration for Shepard is a good touch too.

Glad they changed his look from MEGalaxies, though.  I love how they even gave him razor burn.  Look closely.  Best part?  My first name is Jacob and I usually keep a trim beard because I'm prone to razor burn and falling for superior officers while saving the galaxy.

as an african american girl gamer myself, I'm really happy BW took this step. Jake doesn't act like the stereotypes, and he doesn't have any whiny baggage.... his quest with his father is over and done, and the mission is on his mind at all times.

My next Shep is so romancing him
