I am very disappointed with this Mass Effect 2.
It's just a gear of war with dialogue, the RPG part is a joke and there is no scenario so far.
I think the sonic game for DS was more a RPG that this game is.
Leveling is  a joke, it's mass effect but weaker in every part, because the focus was to create a Gear of war clone.
I have to assume that I will not anymore buy blindly a Bioware game, that make me sad.

I've never played Gears of War, but I'm hearing this comparison a lot with ME2.
I do coincide with you that Mass Effect 2 is a major let down. If Gears plays like this game, I'll just stick to Halo.

The only redeeming thing I found so far playing this game is that I was able to port my custom ME1 character.

Different people have different visions on what RPG is.

What do you mean with "there is no scenario so far?"

Great story, great character development, what is it you miss/find lacking in the "scenario"?

I don't see how it can be the best game ever made and the worst Bioware game ever made at the same time? Are you saying that ME2 isn't the best game ever made? Blasphemy.

The story is more interesting than ME1, as are the characters, the acting is superior, the gameplay is much better, and there is more content available. Sure, you may lose out on the long drawn-out periods of running around talking to people, but the story that is there (and there is plenty) is far more compelling. That's not to say ME1 was a bad game, it was up there with the best, but in comparison to ME2, it falls apart.

You shouldn't buy games blindly, period. You need to do research and know about what you are going to purchase BEFORE you purchase it, regardless of whether it's a Bioware game, Ubisoft, Naughty Dog, a couch, a computer, a TV, dinner, a book, etc. If you were disappointed, return the game for credit/money, and take this as a lesson to research before you buy.

That's probably a good thing, I don't think you have what it takes to appreciate something good. ;)

How come dressing up and putting points in stats are the only things that make a game an RPG for all you people?

Do you even know what RPG stands for? Role playing. Sure, by that extension even Doom is an RPG because you play a space marine, but lets not act silly for a moment here. RPG's are games where you make choices that affect the story and get to immerse yourself in the game's setting & characters.

One of the more common things in RPG's is the dressing up and putting points in stuff, but it's not what makes a game. To me ME2 is still very much an RPG, if it isn't to you, then I'm sorry and we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Sounds like they would be just as happy with some GI Joes and Microsoft Excel.

It's fun to see "leveling" complaints. The leveling is still there. The +20% boost for various weapon systems are now researched, instead of tick-tocked upwards with "skill points". As if becoming more "skilled" with a weapon makes it "do more damage" through force of will. Please.

Mass Effect 2 is a better take on the system of improving weapons.

The "limited" weaponry simply cuts out the bull**** ******-weak weaponry that you slogged through in the first game until you hit Spectre gear weaponry. You now have weaponry that works great right from the start.

I personnaly don't find the story that great, I find it far weaker than the story of ME1.

I can't spoil so I'm kind of limited here, but until now all the mission I've made are exactly the same, go find blahblah, fight, use paragon dialogue he is happy.
Talk to the guy, do his personnal quest, he is happy and loyal....

Kind of like throwing the baby out with the bath water.
Some things were changed for questionable reasons, other things are greatly improved. It's a great game I'm enjoying very much despite some changes I don't like.

Well, when you distill it that way, all of Mass Effect's missions were like that, too. "Go to Virmire/Noveria/Ilos/whereever, find blahblah, fight, use paragon/renegade dialogue, voila".

The game does have its flaws, but the storyline is not one of them. The characters did seem a bit more static than the ones in the original (MUCH more open to share their dark secrets) and the romances were a bit underdeveloped, the devs did not make them as well as they did the original.  Besides this, ME2 was an entertaining RPG.

No dialogues, no shooting? What would make it better Belren? :)
