*Christian Bale/ John Conner* WHAT ARE YOU?!?!
It lacks in the variety of armor/weapons department and the leveling talent/skills have training wheels.
The experience as a whole is still very much enjoyable though.
Made my own SR35 "Terminator" armor too. Looks like the paint scheme from the supposed SU 35 Russian Fighter Jet.
It's a mixed bags if you ask me but I'm happy.

RPG games are more about choices/repercussions and character development than leveling up and attributing points. Following this context ME2 is an authentic jewel.

Don't worry ME3 main features will be:
a) A big massive inventory with tons of options. And inventory based minigames (like find the barcode, move a box from y to x in 10 seconds and such)..
A unique chance to have sex with any living being, including trees.
c) 200 different kinds of shotguns, in pretty colors.
d) A click-to-kill combat system. You just have to click an enemy and he dies.
e) A Doom + Starcraft + Gears of War + Hellokitty Online + Dialogue structure

Worst Bioware game ever? No way! This is the best Bioware game since Baldur's Gate 2, maybe even better (hard to compare though), which would make it the best Bioware game ever! But that's just my opinion.

If anybody else calls this Gears of War with a Dialogue system gets a swift move to my ignore list (if there is one, please let there be one). No one that stupid is worth of my reading.

The worst Bioware game ever was Neverwinter Nights 1. Horrible horrible story and voice acting.
As for ME2, the game mechanics are very lacking. I would have wished a more detailed skill system, inventory system, and hell the ability to change various armors of my party. Having them in just one or two outfits is BORING. I In this regard ME1 is superior to ME2. However that is the limit of ME2's negative aspects. I dop hope ME3 is more like ME1 in regard to inventory and skills than ME2, I don't see why they had to change it. It wasn't broke.
If it ain't broke don't try to fix it. You will only make it worse which Bioware did.

I give up.
I was keeping a count of exactly how many threads each day were opened on this exact same topic: "This isn't a RPG and I'm so disappointed."
I think the disappointment stems from the fact that Bioware made great RPGs and that they've abandoned the formula they used before.
The result is near-universal critical praise and two million copies sold the first weekend of release.

Alright tool, Not only are you a complet nub but ur stupid as well. Mass Effect is a very good game, given not as good as the previous in the serious, but it has its good qualities. I hate ppl that have to rag on great games. If you knew anything about games you would know how much time and effort went into making this game. This isn't an easy game to make. So chill out and stop posting stupid stuff in forums.

I am just disappointed how the gear and skill system was dumbed down. There was nothing wrong with ME1 in this regard. There is no good reason to change it.

I personally think Jade empires is the worst game of there ever.
I do think some aspects are worse, I liked ME1 combat more, and this game hailed it as improved, that is my biggest complaint so far.
And the hate for combat is one thing, Thermal clips are stupid as hell

For me, ME2 is more engaging than Baldurs 2!
It has everything, even DADDY-BAGS!

I liked the skill system but the gear system was f*ed up BIG TIME. 90% of the guns, ammo, and armor I head was FAR below what I was wearing. I would pick up hoards of useless crap, shuttle the back to a shop keeper and sell them for money I never really needed.
Besides walking around with like fifty guns held god knows where was beyond retarded.
The new system ain't perfect, but I like it more then the first.
Skills are a bit of a let down, but combat is so much more improved it's much more then a fair trade off.

Please read, there was plenty wrong with ME1's Equipmentory. ME2 is a great improvement, perfect? nah but it's streamlined and realistic. I'd like to see more N7 armor pieces with more specific modes for guns.
Like different ways to make a rifle do X with clear stats of each model.

Oh, it is realistic to send a soldier out in damaged armor? Sorry, I DON'T THINK SO!

I do not regret any of my 33 hrs of gameplay yet, and I'm still on my first playthrough plan on many more.
Its leaps and bounds better than ME1 and ME1 is in my top 5 games ever.
Its better, sorry

I think this game is one of the best Sci-Fi RPGs ever done, including Mass Effect 1. The inventory system was fixed. The "I want better armor" was fixed. Lots of improvements on ME2. I am enjoying it and I already finished it, replaying it as another class and the combat is completly different. I can understand having different opinions on ME2, but I hardly think its a dissapointment.

I'ts not exactly what i expected, but this game is not so bad. Well, it's not like the great Drago Age Origin game, but it's still a nice game to play.

As much as I loved older Bioware games, ME2 is not only the best game they've ever made, it's the best game ever. Period.
Though with this being the Internet and all, I should probably clarify that despite the "Period" at the end, this is naturally just an opinion
.
I'm very much struggling to understand all the criticism though - and just brushing it off as being from "die hard RPG fans" doesn't really seem to cut it, as I am or at least used to be one of those myself. But perhaps "die hard RPG fans strongly opposed to change"?
Outside of the combat system (which I love), ME2 is really nothing like the regular third person shooters some people seem to like to compare them to.
