Definitely not the worst game ever, in fact as a stand-alone game its among the best....

but I agree with your points OP, ME2 is stripped and "dumbed" down.

Apparently this community loves that though, you and I and other like minded people are in a class of our own, and my guess is that our IQ is at least +25% that of the detractors.

Seriously, to accept this and say its good = dumb. (imo)

Yes, by all means don your wizard hat and join the rest of the intellects in the basement. You are wasting your time with Mass Effect.

I do coincide with you that Mass Effect 2 is a major let down. If Gears plays like this game, I'll just stick to Halo.

The only redeeming thing I found so far playing this game is that I was able to port my custom ME1 character.

I found it more like Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 personally. One of my favorite tactical shooters. You can mix and match armor and you have different weapons and types. The only thing it is missing is an idiotic riot shield.

LOL this guy is drunk. ME2 is the best game ever made, seriously. If you do not like this game, especially the combat, then you have never played a game. Obviously you're just some PS3 fanboy who is pissed their ****ty console doesn't have the best game ever made.

Alright you know. I wasn't going to come into a thread like this anymore, considering everyone in these threads is usually unreasonable, thinking they are better than 90% of the community, and even turning to personal attacks and name calling. I don't see why you can't be reasonable and try to at least treat other members with some respect and civility. You claim to be such an intellectual +25% IQ above others, and yet you lack the eloquence to word a persuasive argument.

Look, is this an RPG in the truest sense of the word? Probably not. However, do I have quite a lot of fun in this game, and treat it like an RPG? Yes. Everyone has a different opinion, and a different point of view. Just because you don't agree with me in the fact I love this game doesn't mean I'm going to call you an idiot, or a moron. I'd appreciate being treated with the same respect, and not having these broad statements tossed back and forth about people enjoying this game being stupid.

I like some of the changes here, I disagree with not being able to switch my armor on the fly for example, I don't mind the min/maxing being gone personally, I get enough of that in Demon's Souls and World of Warcraft. The slow scanning process is also an annoyance but it doesn't make me upset enough to chuck the game that's for sure. Every game has its flaws, I admit, but I don't mind not having an inventory to manage. I love this game, and I'll keep playing it for a while, now by all means please express your opinions, but could you maybe just do it with a little more respect to the rest of the community in the future? Thanks.

Not the worst, not the best!

Problem is its the follow up of the best (IMO) and just didnt deliver on the goods.

Its funny, I read the odd shooter talking about immersion, there is not immersion in ME2, thats the problem. You simply follow a story as its laid out and dont effect it in any way!

Go be a absolute ****** to Miranda, bet she still gives you her loyalty quest and if you do it she becomes loyal! Utter mindless drone followers with no personalities of their own!

ME1 felt epic and urgent and important!

ME2 feels scripted, predictable, and well drawn

ME1 was a 10

DA:O was a 9.5

KotOR was a 8.5

ME2 is a 7.1

JE is a 7 (would be higher if not so short)

IF they had kept everything ME1 did and only updated the combat, they would of had anouther WORTHWHILE AND EARNED 10, instead they gutted the immersion, gutted the emotion, gutted the soul of the game.

Best bioware game is BG2 followed by Kotor. ME holds up nicely to the rest of bioware's catalog though.

ME2 is still a great game, but it's RPG mechanics (dialogue excluded, still plenty of that) are watered down to the level of a action/adventure, pretty much on the level of Assassin's creed 2; which I enjoyed immensely. If ME2 added more on the RPG mechanics of the first it would have been the perfect game, sadly they decided they wanted to broaden their fan base. Which is questionable considering how much dialogue is in the game, didn't think their attention spans could take that, not to mention the planet scanning mini game. Hope ME3 doesn't get stripped down even more. It was the great characters, fun combat and new environments and art design that makes me love ME2, but I also miss the customization from the first game that makes me think why almost remove something that isn't broken, most ppl liked the inventory and it has been in every Bioware RPG why remove it now? A single new skin for team mates and a single armor with 'upgrades' and aesthetic changes for those who didn't get any of the DLC stuff, that is sad.

Smart guy right here.
I'd give KOTOR2 a solid 9 btw.

If you can give ME1 a 10 and then give ME2 anything below a 9 then you have been playing something other than ME2.

i think mass effect is amazing, ok they have lost some of the micro management of the first but the action is much more interesting in this one and the story/characters/scenery/atmoshere of this game is incredible i give it two thumbs up!

A little off topic but KotOR 2 was developed by Obsidian. Hopefully EA will purchase that company as well and BioWare can start collaborating with them again. While the story in KotOR 2 wasn't completely finished and flushed out they did a nice job creating some interesting environments and characters.

Well since we're posting scores for most BioWare RPGs here's mine:

NWN1: 6.9
JE: 8.7
DAO: 9.1
ME1: 9
ME2: 9.6
KOTOR1: 9.5

And KOTOR2 7.9 (but it isn't a BioWare game)

Funny how people think GoW was the first game to use an intricate cover system...then again, these are probably little kids where GoW was the first game they were allowed to play that had a cover system.

Bioware makes the best games on the market...consistently. I prefer their formula to success over all the other hot garbage out there. They inject RPG elements into action games and shooters that involve fun puzzles, deep dialogue, and stories.

I have to say ME2 is tied for one of the best games I have ever played, the other being FF7.

To be fair, Gears of War was an extremely good game.  If you are into shooters.  The Gears series does cover-based combat better than nearly any other game on the market.

Yeah the Gears of War series is pretty awesome, and sure it wasn't the first one to do interactive cover, it was just the best one to that point.

I agree, that was over-the-top.  Post edited.

I'm sorry, since Oblivion I am extremely over-sensitive about "dumbing" down of series that I had grown attached too.  (Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect etc.)  I'll drop the attitude.

I am very disappointed with this Mass Effect 2.
It's just a gear of war with dialogue, the RPG part is a joke and there is no scenario so far.
I think the sonic game for DS was more a RPG that this game is.
Leveling is  a joke, it's mass effect but weaker in every part, because the focus was to create a Gear of war clone.
I have to assume that I will not anymore buy blindly a Bioware game, that make me sad.

i for one am missing you already.
