Looks like it already has!IndianKJBlue wrote...
For those of you interested in keeping in line with reality: the combat in ME2 is nothing like Gears of War. The rest of the game is even farther from comparison with Gears of War. This game could just as easily be compared with Dead Space or Hitman or BioShock or _____ because those would all be likewise inane and stupid comparisons.
Thank you, and I do hope we all haven't been made dumber by this thread.

So most of the issues of Mass Effect 2 are a direct result of feedback from Bioware's community. I am NOT part of Bioware's community, and I just wanted to tell you all that you ruined my game.
This game does not play like Gears of War, but trys and fails. The duck and cover system is something out of Rainbow Six Vegas; Its sluggish and slow to snap to.
Who the hell said that the modding guns and armor was complex?! You hit X, you add 3 mods and your done. The issue isn't only that theres 3 of each gunt, but its also the fact that they feel totally different. Do you know how annoying it would be to play 3/4 of halo 3 with a battle rifle?! Well thanks to this community, I now play mass effect2 like this.
Finally, I can't believe how renegade my Paragon Shepard acts. Paragon Shepard is a hero, Renegade Shepard is a badass. Both are now bad asses, with the exception that renegade shepard has taken a page from Fable 2 in the evil looks department.

so glad these threads are slowly dying out.......
BIOWARE DOES NOT ALWAYS HAVE TO MAKE FULL FLEDGED RPGS!!!!
they can make other games to like this. a great hybrid between TPS/RPG. some of the comments through here seem to make me think some of these people haven't played at all or have just barely started playing the game.

You know, I enjoy Mass Effect 2 as I said, even as an RPG. Its pretty amazing, and I love the choices and how they actually do have a branching effect. I'm looking forward to ME3. If you don't enjoy it, then I'm sorry, and I hope you find an RPG you do enjoy. To each their own right?

You cannot base your entire game comparison on one aspect (shooter), even if it is the most important to you, that would be very unfair...
Also, for me, who is not a shooter-addict, this is not obvious that ME2 is a best shooter than ME1:
- being trained to ME1 combat system, I had some troubles to adapt to ME2 (not a very good start for a sequel),
- I several times experienced problems with the squadmates getting right in my firing line in ME2, thing that I had never noticed in ME1 (not a great improvement on the squadmates AI, I would say),
- I also had the impression that they were some times wandering quite far away from me, when I had not given any such order (again an experience I never had in ME1).
What would you describre specifically as the major improvements, in a shooter perspective, from ME1 to ME2?
