there is another data pad or access terminal, found it on a 2nd or 3rd start, trying different classes. And it mentions how Miranda would have to appreciate him now with shepard almost back up. Implied, to me at least, that she is not interested in him and he decides to destroy that which is most important to her, Project Lazerous.

We don't even know if he was the one who actually did it, for all we know the Illusive Man could have set it up as a test to see if we were combat ready considering they considered everyone on the base but Shepard to be expendable.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case and Miranda was in on it. I doubt Jacob would have gone along with it because of his morels, but this and his combat skills makes him the perfect unknowing assistant in this plot as he would likely be able to get Shepard out and introduce Cerberus as something not completely evil.

There is no proof of this but I think its more interesting than just a disgruntled employee.

It seems completely out of the blue and no motive was given... anyone got any ideas?

I guess money makes sense if he killed everyone he could sell the equipment and the plans.

I'm guessing bringing people back from the dead would be a popular (albeit expensive) market.

I beleive this is called a macguffin. Its purpose was to get the action started.
