Are you denying that it was possible to spam mindlessly through each encounter, either as an Immunity class or a Barrier class?

Are you denying that charging head first into a pack of enemies in ME2, ignoring cover and holding down the shoot button will get you either killed or waste all your ammo, forcing you to rethink your approach?

It's simply not true that ME1 required more strategy and critical thinking. Sorry.

Anything requires critical thinking, if you jump into a bad situation headfirst. Thats like saying, "Super Mario is a mystery game because you have figure out where the princess is."

Riot, as someone who has been fighting this battle for days I can tell you that no one here cares about logic, your right to your own point of view, or even civil discussion for that matter.

I've tried to be reasonable despite constant personal attacks and insults and I've tried to carefully explain a different point of view to the "fans"...

But in the end all you get is "you are an idiot, ME 2 is a better game in every way, and if you think differently you are a hater and a troll"

Even my masochism has limits lol..

Has been an interesting sociological experiment though.

What so bad about expressing our opinion on someone else's opinion? Lol you gonna sue us or something?

The funny part about all of this, is that you are trying to focus on my strategy comment, rather than the fact that the game has been simplified to the point where all I have to do is face a wave or two before I get a "Congrats!" screen and return to my ship.

Are you serious? The game is way harder then that and the first game was exactly the same except for the "Congrats!" screen part. Even easier I think due to the lack of enemies at least relatively.

C'mon people. Don't feed the troll.

They tend to go away if you don't pay any attention to them.

my save file and figured out my strategy. (Sarcasm.) I actually play

The
problem is, there was no gameplay reason to not skate through with
spam. The game encouraged you at every moment to be a mindless tank.

Every
class was the same. You go in, press your "make me not die" button, all
your "make the enemies die" buttons at once, and then hold the right
trigger and point in their general direction.

Anything else you did was discouraged heavily by the game.

Now,
you actually have to use strategy and plan and know which abilities to
use when. Therefore, everyone has to play strategically instead of just
the couple of people who made up arbitrary rules to be "strategic" in
the first one.

Can you give me a single situation where you could run into a bad situation head first and die in ME1?  (With the assumption you're spamming all your abilites and with the exception of "don't get sniped."?)

What you said:

"a game that required strategic and critical thinking"

That's not the case. It was not required, by any means. At least not demonstrably moreso than ME2.

No, you have the right to be as rude, intolerant, and obtuse as you wish.

There is also no limitation on how big a fool you'd like to make of yourself.

Did you guys have parents, teachers, or ANY role models that gave you pointers on how to behave in the real world??

Really? Seriously? When a mission ended, first and foremost, you were still on the same planet unless you had to evacuate someone, or escape an explosion. The enemies in part 2 were only difficult, because they all almost 100% of the time focus fire on sheppard. That is all.

Actually I'd rather discuss my thoughts and feelings about ME 2.

You know, here on the discussion forum.

This post is extremely funny considering all your posts on these boards can be boiled down to "my opinion is right and everyone else is stupid/idiotic/a child/a moron/gay/lame/a fanboy/stupid/stupid/stupid".

I have yet to see a single constructive post by you where you act mature and don't resort to name calling or trying to establish yourself as some supreme intellect.

Then when ANYONE disagrees with you, you turn around and call THEM names and say they are attacking you. You're priceless man.

This is a stalement where you say "I disagree, ME2 is harder." Then I say, "Alright then." You cant prove an opinion wrong.

How is expressing a legitimate opinion trolling?

Man, I gotta get out of here.. I'm afraid the stupidity is contagious.

This was my opinion on the game. How did this become a trolling? If these people disagree, I can't stop them. No one has insulted anyone yet.

Calling someone a troll doesnt immediately kill a thread.

You can if the opinion is something like "I am of the opinion that there's no such thing as hats."

Hats can be demonstrated to exist. (Or can they??)

Not at all. There is no longer Immunity to spam and if you leave cover to try and shoot a group of enemies to death, you'll likely be destroyed by crossfire before you get them all down. Even on Normal or Veteran difficulty.

@ llinsane1ll - I believe I am allowed to voice my opinion with a game that was supposed to be an improved version of the first, but was not. Oh and what moron would trade in a brand new game to any store for 1/3 the price you paid for it? I have no choice but to get my moneys worth out of it. Don't be stupid. I keep forgetting that most people don't play on insanity difficulty like I do in ME1. The horrible AI partners finding cover added to the critical thinking. (ie: "How do I keep Ashley from getting gutted by 10 krogans.)

@ marshalleck - Wow, its like you loaded my save file and figured out my strategy. (Sarcasm.) I actually play the game, not figure out ways to skate through via spam.

@ Raydiate - Play on a higher difficulty then. I would fly through the game with spectre weapons too, if I stayed on Normal difficulty after every playthrough.

In Mass Effect 1, I ran around in hallways never bothering to get into cover (on Insanity) and still plowed through the game without any deaths. Never bothered to even look for items in crates and such either, only because items fell from the sky and went into my inventory for running around in hallways. The game was ridiculously easy with biotics being able to completely shut an enemy (and in some case, boss) down 100%.

In Mass Effect 2, if I stand out of cover I'll die in a matter of seconds on insanity. There's far more emphasis on "Don't shoot blindly" with the new ammo system and creating a squad requires you to blend in tactics and abilities very well. I get fewer items, but going to the item menu and thinking what weapon I should bring was pretty enjoyable and required thought. "Do I bring the shotgun with one shell that deals a lot of damage but leaves me exposed, or do I bring the weapon that has a lot of shells but takes more shots to kill the enemy?".

Mass Effect 2 is far more strategic and requires a lot more thinking than Mass Effect 1 ever offered, you're probably just angry that the game isn't as stat-based.

The basis of the definition of a troll is the intent to generate anger and animosity, with no valued contribution to the initial discussion.

In this case, I think you're the troll.

I have never seen so many troll calling in a forum before. Have we forgotten the basis to a common debate or are we just hell bent on looking like a ****** by posting smartass comments on a forum. It's all "Lawlz, troll alert!!! Everyone tell me how aw3some I am for what I saidz!".

Back on topic. I have been rather disappointed with class balance lately in Bioware games. If they increase the effectiveness of biotic skills, then I'll have almost no problem with the game, because the other parts I can ignore.
