Hey,

I have bought Mass Effect 2 today from HMV and as I didn't preorder, I didn't receive any of the exclusives. I was wondering if the armour you receive is all that or if you can get much better as you progress through the game?

Thanks

The stats are good, no doubt about it, but not all THAT good. You will not fail without them.

It doesn't really make that big of a difference. The upgrades you get for your N7 armor will generally overshadow any bonuses the pre-order armor gives you, especially since you can custom tailor the N7 armor to suit the type of class you're playing, I.E. Infiltrator with increases to headshot damage, increases to power, and increases to shield or health.

They're a nice little buff when you're starting out, but you won't miss them too much later on.

Also they all have a permanent helmet that you can't take off. So conversations and things are bad. If you are into role-playing it kills all immersion.

I agree to say that, though the look and bonuses might look interesting in the beginning, the Inferno and Blood Dragon armor sets are not very useful in the long run (because they do not allow any customization, at the contrary of the N7 armor).
I personally started the game using the Inferno armor, but quite quickly dropped it, to be able to choose the helmet style I liked, customise the color of the rest of my armor and benefit from upgrades I had found...
Unless they provide, at some point, upgrades allowing to customize these armor sets, I do not think I will change back...

Yes, and i find this most disheartening. :( Mass Effectt 2 was supposed to "blow us away." So far, honestly, it hasn't yet. :( Actually it seems more of the same, with less options.

I dont use my Blood Dragon, Collector, or Inferno armor haha. Nice to have though :P I perfer sticking with my different armor pieces. Its looking pretty sexy though haha. Jet black as tint 1, Orange as tint 2, and the first pattern with white as pattern color. Those colors sound familiar ? haha

I used the Collector armor, while the N7 armor gets better with upgrades I was being cheap.

The collector armor gives you +20% health +10% storm speed and +10% powers damage. The 20% extra health is alone worth it for soldier characters and better than anything you can get atm with the N7 gear. However, as has been said, the non-removable helmets on all the pre-order armor means unless you are happy to never seeing shepherds face during the entire game you won't ever use them.

I hope they patch the DLC armors to make them customizable / mix & match...

My cousin pre-ordered the game from Amazon. Just check your emails ( the email address you used to buy the game! ) Posted Image
