So my friend plays an infiltrator and he can use Legion's sniper which is supposed to be too strong for humans, but I cannot as a vanguard, use Grunt's shotgun which has the same description?

That is somewhat dumb.

Edit: I even looked in the guide and it says it can be used by "Soldiers, Vanguards, Grunt"

Might be a glitch, but you can get the weapon though at some point in the game.

The weapon description specifucally states the recoil would break the arm of any human.

those weapons are for those characters only. youll get one like it from the collector ship later. but if it says a characters name in the gun only they can use it.

There is a shotgun like the krogan shotgun that has been adapted for humans. I *think* you find it on the Collector ship, but I was on a ME2 marathon and I may have been slightly delirious from sleep deprivation. ;)

You can get the Claymore shotgun.

When you repond to the "Turian Distress Call" and enter the Collector ship you find a pile of weapons there and, if you can use shotguns you can chose the Claymore.

The Claymore works much better in Grunt's hands, however. I'd recommend not choosing the Claymore for your Vanguard. It doesn't pack enough punch to make up for its slow rate of fire. Stick with the Scimitar.

I would agree with Schneidend's appraisal of the weapon. One round at a time makes it difficult to apply strategically, though perhaps that could change depending on bonus skill selection.

I don't know, my Shep has Fortification as his bonus. He can turn that on and stand in front of Harbinger or a Scion firing away, relatively safe for a few attacks, and I've found even timing your reloads well and aiming for center mass, the DPS on the Claymore just doesn't cut it. It doesn't even seem to be any better against Armor than the Scimitar is with Incendiary Ammo on, even though the description claims it is potent against all defenses.

Well that's my point really, with a one-round weapon you're really going more for extreme burst damage than a high sustained DPS. I was thinking more along the lines of a soldier with a good selection of ammo mods (particularly shredder or AP rounds) and weapon damage skills.

Make that one round count by putting down an opponent with one obscenely powerful blast.

That said, I haven't personally tested this. Just an idea.

Well, yeah, that's the problem. The Claymore just plain doesn't have the damage output to do that against a non-goon. I mean, with Incendiary Ammo, you'd think a close-range blast to the Harbinger's face with his Barrier down would instantly kill him. Alas, t'is not so.

Armor-Piercing actually increases damage output, though, and I haven't tried that, so you could be right.

Another thought: give it to Jack and have her use it with warp ammo and her biotics to amplify its output.

Sadly, when you pick up those "uber" weapons, only Shep or the character they're normally meant for, can use them.

I might try NG+ on my Vanguard with Armor-Piercing or Warp Ammo, though. I'm just worried that I won't survive Insanity's increased enemy damage without Fortification/Barrier/Geth Armor.

Good thing that Shep is a cyborg in ME2 and most of your squad is nonhuman then.

Grunts shotgun is horrible. Single shot and like no power, stick with the Razor when you get it.

This. Shepard is a genetically-engineered, cybernetically-enhanced super soldier. With adequate training, Shepard can wield ANY infantry weapon.

I found that with my Vanguard a charge, melee, and a claymore blast kills just about anything. Harbinger included. Got the Achievement just after getting the claymore.

So your saying people with robotic arms are Cyborgs? Shepherd only has a few robotic replacements. If he was a cyborg all his innards would be machine...

I used the claymore on my vanguard play through on veteran, you have to modify your skills around it. Heavy charge is good for it because it gives you a chance to pump almost two rounds with the time slowing down. If you fully upgraded you shotgun and choose the destroyer specialization the added bonus to claymore is horrifying.

"Cyborg" is the middle ground between fully organic and fully synthetic. Technically, a guy with a pacemaker is a cyborg. Shepard is considerably further along the spectrum, and has been specifically enhanced in ways relevant to combat e.g. strength, reflexes, durability. His in-game research upgrades relate to enhancing / replacing muscle and bone. Even Miranda is an interesting case - genetically engineered to exceed the normal human range. Can she fire Krogan shotguns with nothing more than a sore shoulder and maybe a trip onto her ass? Could be.

you'll get a choice of a weapon on the collecotrs ship. the infiltrator guy obviously chose the sniper, you choose the shotgun if you want it.

Even a single mechanical, synthetic component integrated into an organic body makes you a cyborg. All human biotics, for instance, are already cyborgs because of their implants. Therefore, if you're playing an Adept, Vanguard, or Sentinel, your Shep was a cyborg even in ME1. Get over it.
