Okay, I have to say I was a bit taken aback when I saw the collectors were abducting all those humans to... make a reaper? What?

I thought reapers were completely synthetic. And aren't there loads of them already, hanging out in dark space? Harbinger was controlling the collector general, so if they just needed a reaper to open dark space, why couldn't he have done that?

I have loved playing this game, but the finale really stumped me.

Apparently, the reason reapers farm galactic civilizations is to make more of themselves. They are both synthetic and organic.

I think only the Citadel can open up the way to dark space. They were probably waiting until they finished the Reaper then they would have attacked the Citadel again( just a guess).

Okay that makes sense, I guess. The finale still felt a bit underwhelming compared to ME1. Maybe because only me and my crew were being directly threatened, rather than the galaxy/civilization/my mom. Almost felt like a bit of epilogue was missing. Cheers.

All of humanity was directly threatened. The Collector ship had enough pods to harvest a large portion of Earth's population.

Hopefully we get out 'epilogue' with DLC, as almost all of the main plot was preparing for and doing the suicide mission. I'd like to catch up with others and dig deeper into old ground.

Just Curious, Why did we not blow up the Omega 4 Relay after finding out collects are using it.

PS: With the Collector using the relay to get home you would think some one saw them. They did see Rachni Ships in the traverse.

The middle movie/book/whatever often suffers this problem.

Because a star going supernova won't destroy a relay, and no known species has ordnance superior to that.

Yeah, the reapers can't reproduce normally... So they harvest entire civilizations to build more of them. For some reason they couldn't make reapers out of protheans, so that's why they made them into collectors.

As for the human/reaper hybrid... Well I think humans are somehow special, maybe they're genetically connected to the protheans or something. Because on Omega you hear about Humans being immune to the virus that's killing everyone.

Also, it could just be that shep was the first anything to kill a reaper, so they may have taken notice to the humans because of that.

True. I think I forgot some story elements in all the rush to gather team mates and make them loyal.

Reapers are a variation on the seed ship, each represents an entire species / civilization. They're out in "dark space" because they're heading for another galaxy; the Citadel relay is just the only one in the Milky Way powerful enough to reach that far out. Harbinger is still hanging out locally (at least Harbinger) so there are non-Citadel options for activating a relay to let them come back for a harvest - or they could just take another run at infiltrating the Citadel. It still works, it was just never activated.

That was a wtf moment with that last boss.

By the way...Am I the only one who was wondering when that human-looking Reaper was going to say "I'll be back." in an Arnold Schwarzenegger voice when you finally kill it? Ahh...probably so. >_>

My first thought as well. Really, a Terminator?

Actually, they may have made a prothean reaper, Harbinger (the holograph display in front of the collector general) looks alot like their current form of the collectors, but thats assuming the prothean/collector physical look didn't change drastically. Match what the collector general looks like and the pic during the ending of the harbinger on the data pad that Shepard is holding.

Just a thought, could be entirely wrong.

they were creating another one so that the human reaper could open up the citadel.

Yeah I made a thread about how silly the final boss was. It's a cross between Andross and a Terminator. But it does give us more understanding about why the Reapers wipe out civilization every 50,000 years. They need organic life to create new Reapers.
