Okay, so my issues has gone from, random crashing after a set period of playing (5-10 minutes) which I could fix by playing in a windowed mode. However after an hour or so of game time today, that crashed too(and wish crashing, I mean i need to reboot my entire computer), so I tried playing the game again after rebooting, and it woudnt launch. The launcher would come up, I would press play, the computer starts humming up as if starting to launch the game.. Then it just stops, and the game dosnt launch.

I then swapped over from Windowed mode, to default. Then the game would seem to start up, I got a black screen, then it say "Mass Effect 2 has stopped working"  all of a sudden..

What is going on here?

I got Windows 7 64 bit (Pro) installed, I got an AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ 2.81 Ghz
2 GB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275
Clock speed 2812
Physical Memory 1.99
VRAM 896
Driver version: 6.1.7600.16385
DirectX 10.0
Masseffect.exe version 1.00

The problems started at Omega with the crashes, after that it happend all the time until I ran window mode, now when I got to the citadel, even window mode borderless crashed. And now I cant even start the game.

I've already tried re-installing as well
I own a physical disk

P.S Is there a way to email this to tech support?
P.P.S Where is the search button?

Well im hoping this will be spotted.. I would sent it in in some way to some kind of a tech ticket message error report or whatever.. But I havent found a way to do that. Only way to be able to reach bioware seems to be here in these forums :-/

same problem here.

i reinstalled already already 3 times.

i think it has something to do with securom / copy protection, as whne i have no DVD in my drive, i get an error message, that the DVD could not be verified.

if the DVD is in it crashes at the same spot while loading.

I dont think ME2 got any of that securom stuff. They got this cerberus network to try to repel pirating.

Thanks for the link, doubt it's going to do much good though. What we need is a patch to fix these things, since it dosnt seem to be as simple as "Tweak a bit here"

Yep I have this exact issue. It's really shoddy to have it not work out of the box even in the slightest. But hey at least yours worked originally. Mine hasn't worked at all since I bought it. Please pay attention and patch this soon bioware >.>

Ditto. Really hoping for a patch soon. I've been looking forward to this game for ages and to not get past the launcher well... I'm very sad.

Okay so I just ran it as administrator after re-installing. Now I can launch the game. Not sure if it was a fluke or what. I can atleast launch it now (but for how long without a proper fix? :-/ )

These kinds of problems are almost always drivers. Most likely video card drivers, but sometimes also audio card drivers.

So just download the latest drivers for your video card and audio card and then try again. Don't check the driver version, just simply download the latest and install. Even if you're sure you already have that driver version. Just to make sure the driver install went correct.

Same here....my crashes always happen in combat ..... Crashed once yesterday after about 9 hours of play at the final battle where you try to pick up the Krogan character. All I ever have to do is restart the game....Save Save Save......LoL  Sorry to see your sittuation seems to have worsened OP over the weekend since I was on here last.

Where can I get audio drivers? >.< I know how to get video drivers and I know I got the latest one for that (I downloaded it a bit before I got ME2)

It is not a fluke. if you are running Vista or Win 7 you pretty much have to install all games with the "run as admin" command, otherwise Windows will not allow some files to be written, registery access, etc, pretty much causes just about all games to throw errors, not install, crash halfway in etc.

It is just a habit you have to get into running either of those OS's.

If does not work, and it is an older game ME 1 for instance, you may need to run the combatibility mode.

I'm sure you do not want to reinstall again, but I would suggest doing so with the admin command.

You can set the game to always run in admin mode also, that may help in the long run. It will under the properties tab when you right click the ME2.exe

But the game launches now even if I didnt install it as admin <.<; Why do I need to re-install it just to put in admin?
