So I started an NG+ on Insanity, and noticed that even the Loki androids in the tutorial were doing a ton of damage when I let them. Is my Vanguard going to need to pick one of the shielding skills as his bonus talent to survive this madness? I mean, I know how to play this game, but even I accidently take a rocket to the face from time to time.

Thoughts?

Well I started the game on Insanity without NG+ so much more fun, I'm using an Adept. I'm not sure what Vanguards have but from watching the trailers of them they seem to be close combat oriented with the abilities you can acquire so I would suggest getting Barrier off of Jacob maybe? But at the beginning the best thing to do is to retreat when facing the Loki and take them slowly and be one step ahead of them getting to close to you.

Sometimes I would purposely let my team die in order for them to be behind the Loki, that way when I resurrect them the Loki will ether continue to come after you but they will start losing health more or the mech will turn it's attention to your allies and you can start wailing on him

I am using Infiltrator Cloaking to get to cover. Insanity is insane - everything has armor on it. Snipers head shot. Also to back me up Geth Shield as special. Doing ok, thanks to Zeead with out him probably suicide. Until I get them leveled up welcome to the send Pets first to keep AI busy.

I was thinking of actually doing an infiltrator for Insanity, though I'm not sure how ammo would last on how much health enemies have etc. I always ended up using a sniper with my Soldier to clear out most 'tougher' enemies with adrenaline and headshot sniper boosts, though I doubt it'd be as easy as that on a harder setting, even if they had a similar ability.

Just made it to Horizon on my infiltrator, tried vanguard and man did that suck on insanity. Ammo is problematic sometimes but worst case you can spam tech abilities like incinerate. I use Zaeed, Grunt, and Morlan mostly. Spam their abilities and hope for the best. I took warp ammo as my special and its working out pretty well. I find myself using tac cloak a lot more in insanity then I ever did on my first play through, not doing NG+ though.

I played as a Soldier from level 5 (ME1 import) and at the moment I am playing with my ME2 imported lvl30 Vanguard, no big problems unless I screw up the shot(s) after I charge.

I finished Insanity on my first playthrough with a sentinel, tech armor helps a lot. I really miss it on my infiltrator, without it I die more often.

I'm worried this may be my fate, as well. I want that achievement, though. @.@

You truly have to be insane to play vanguard on insanity.

That or very brave, or very skilled. Or all three.

So is Sentinel all right on Insanity? Better than, say, an Adept?

im still in my first playthrough on insanity, and almost level 20 soldier. it was very challenging getting to upper teen levels, but once there things got much easier

as solider, adrenaline rush is what helped me the most. that and upgrades, lots and lots of upgrades

Adept is fun and easy on Insanity. I don't think I could play this game on any other difficulty, it makes the game seem more believable for the fact that everything is so hard.

I'm a Level 26 Adept, have all of my teammates besides Legion, haven't gotten that far yet, as of right now I'm checking every planet for N7 Missions before I head to the IFF, it seems thats the end of the game once you go to IFF.

All I do is insanity. I'm a lvl30 infiltrator. I have cloak, operative, and shredder ammo (took it as a bonus talent) and incinerate maxed out. A few points in ai hacking for some distractions.

I switch between disruptor ammo and shredder ammo depending on the mission.

Ive had no problems, other than ammo sometimes, but it's quite easy just doing headshots during the slowmo duration in sniper aim.

Pretty sure that's why they call it "Insanity."

But, yeah, I'm a glutton for punishment. Once you understand that Charge isn't the best option all the time, Vanguard is a deadly class. When you use Charge right, the fight has been won before it's even over.

It took me quite awhile to beat NG+ with my vanguard, but the only hints that i can give is to turn your teams auto-abilities off andconstantly focus on killing everyone as fast as possible. Get the assault rifle ability or sniper ability since they give the power to plow through your enemies. I went with the assault rifle and had the heavy charge ability with inferno rounds. I always had a team member with overload/ energy drain, Tali helped quite a bit with her energy drain and drone which distracted the enemies long enough to destroy their shields/armor and charge them which boosts your shields back up and sends the enemy into a long harmless roll knocking them out of commision then i hide behind their cover. If its a level where there are areas where the enemies spawn since you are on insanity i normally charge into the first one and run behind them and set up shop there while the rest of my team have an amazing flanking position. This also stops the flow of spawning. The only levels that you will have trouble on are the collector ship and horizon battles which are it. The rest of the time you will be freaking out and yelling at your TV with excitement as you fly all over the battlefield with charge and firing your assault rifle/ sub machine gun wildly. I enjoyed the vanguard class far more than i liked any other class. The collector ship will make you hate your life... use Miranda and Thane to live through it...;)

And you better have cat like reflexes because the vanguard is a very quick-action oriented class;);)

Do I have any chance as a Vanguard even on hardcore if I picked the Krogan shotgun (no assault or sniper) and Grunt's ability that hardens your armor?

I tried hardcore with NG+ and was constantly dying on the first mission. The enemies are so much more aggressive.

Insanity is too easy. Needs legendary difficulty, or competent enemy AI.

I have tried not using power weapons, not cloaking, picking useless teammates and telling them to hold position, it just isnt that fun anymore.

Insanity isn't really insane when you start to use tactics and cover alot more. And remember to use your squadmates. I prefer Zaeed, Garrus and Mordin for their pure ability to rip through armor with either snipers or incinerate. But Jacob is quite well rounded for early insanity as well, he's good at covering your flank while you do your stuff. Just remember to always tell your squadmates where to stand in cover and create kill zones.

I died less on the Collector ship on my first insanity than I did in in my veteran first game.

Other than that, if you're not familiar with the term "to kite an enemy" you better figure it out. As hard as enemies are, they are still AI's. Dodge heavy mechs, Scions and more by dancing around unshootable obstacles only popping out to shoot at them when you know their hardest hitting attacks are on cooldown and you got your class ability ready, like cloak, adrenaline rush etc. etc.
Vanguards charge is suicide on insanity, you have to resist the ability to use it to often.

Edit: There is two places I fear on insanity and that is on Horizon just after talking to the mechanic (lack of good cover) and on Grunts recruitment mission just after talking to the tank grown krogan who is not perfect, that hill down there with no cover.. It's only two people, but damn they sometimes r*** me good.
