And Garrus was the one she was pining for in the first place.

How could he have known? Perhaps he thought it was her but then when she said, "Hey, how've you been?" instead of something a little bit heartfelt the thought, "Nah, that can't be her."Hainkpe wrote...

AND! Kaidan says, if you're the same woman. IF! What is up with that? Too much drama. It wasn't cheating, it was moving on.

That said, my paragade fell for Thane and my renegade is going to relieve some stress with Garrus. My paragon is still pining.
Dang nabbit. He didn't know it was her and that hurt. Garrus knew, Tali knew. Not Kaidan.

I do find 'cheating' to be an awkward word for the Ash/Kaidan romance, though, because I'm pretty sure the relationship ended when Shep died and they believe he/she was genuinely dead. Doesn't mean the death was easy for them, and of course emotions will rise back to the surface once you see that special person again.
I think it's more of a case of, Do you let the relationship stay in the past? Or do you pick up where you left off?
It's trickier with Liara, as she knew that Shepard wasn't dead, and you can see her at any time.

'Cheating' might not be the best word, as technically the relationships are on hold or are rocky for various reasons.

i was disturbed by the "if" also. but doesn't he say that IF you're the same woman he knew then you'll live through this and then the two of you will see where you're at? i took that is "IF you're still the same badass fighter, then we'll both be alive to see where this is going"
shep is on a mission; kaidan is on a mission. they are being pulled in different directions already and it's only if kaidan is willing to totally go AWOL on the alliance for her AND join up with cerberus after a (Frankly BAD) five-minute meeting, that anything else would have happened.
i really took the IF to be a "i cannot make this decision right now (universe pulled hard to port and all), i am too angry, confused, etc....gah! i just gotta walk away" and then kaidan stops later and thinks about it and realizes that he can't find her now. so i took that as a "IF you live through your crazy Cerberus shenanigans and are still interested when you're done working for them, then i'll think about if i want to try and let myself care again - cause last time really ended bad for me." i suppose some may think that's selfish of him, but completely understandable, no?

And yes, my FemShep couldn't turn Thane down, even though she admired Kaidan. However, MaleShep isn't doing it. Staying loyal to Ashley!

How about Kaidan just walking up to a girl and giving her some love rather than doing a speech of being the Hero of the Citadel. But no, no, he had to get all preachy. He deservedd the, "How've you been?" Serves him right.

LOL Uhhh... still no.
Good bye Kaidan and Hello to Garrus or Thane.
(I haven't decided between the two of them but I know Kaidan is out).

LOL Uhhh... still no.He said he loved her. I can understand the confusion and I can give him the right to be angry but I the idea that he could know Shepard so little to not know its her, that was too much. Then the whole, my world pulled hard to port thing then the IF statement. Either you're there or not. He walked away, Shepard didn't, he did. So it ended. Kaidan ended it then doubted what he did was the right thing. Sending the whole maybe letter, well that was just too little too late.
Good bye Kaidan and Hello to Garrus or Thane.

Thane is tasty and quite gorgeous, but Garrus will forever hold my FemShep's heart! <3

After 2 years someone dead turns up out of the blue with none of their old scars, but plenty of cybernetic new ones and affiliated with a faction you both hated before s/he died and says 'Hi how are you' to you.Hainkpe wrote...

You would instantly believe this is the same person?
/simply thinks the whole Horizon thing could have been done much better.
Also: actually checking the romance status would have helped, for instance.

Also, how is it that in two years not one of my shipmates is in a relationship? Do mass effect fields cause impotence?

yes.
er...kaidan had a date with a doctor. sort of. depends on who you ask how serious it was. he says not in the email, but some folks on twitter say different.
personally, i think BW did a good job of making horizons leave you in a neutral place. i mean, i disliked it a lot, but as some people think it's totally grounds to move on and others think its completely heartbreaking and think the only proper response is to stay true, it would say that LAME dialog aside, it did achieve the objective of making it very much the player's choice what to do in response. i think it really depends on the shep.

Yes, I think Horizon was written in such a way that you can either call it over or just something to work out at a later date, like when Collectors aren't stealing humans. Liara is much, much trickier. she knew you were alive.
I'm already pretty sure that both Kaidan and Ash will be LIs in ME3 even without romancing either in the first place.
Ex. by default, if you start a new game without importing Kaidan is alive if female and Ash is alive if male. When Kelly asks if you have/had strong feeling for either them.
Of course that is all just my own speculation
