In comparison to the ones who are content with the game, the majority that not only post here but on other forums are not happy with the result of ME2. Hopefully Bioware will take note that alienating their existing fanbase to "bring in players that didn't play the original", in other words, shooter fans, is not a smart move, whether it's from an ethics standpoint or business.
What are you talking about. Not everyone who loved ME1 dislikes ME2. Have you ever thought most who love ME2 might actually be playing the game instead of bashing it?

Judging by the 2 million copies sold, not many are complaining on the forum?
For it to be "most" it had to be more than a million people complaining!

You must be gaming-retarded.

Not only that, but the sample size here is so absurdly small that it makes it even worse. There are what, 40 regular posters here? I mean seriously, click on every page on the front thread and tell me you don't consistently see the same names crop up over and over and over again. What you see on these, and practically all forums is an obscenely small but quite loud minority.
Opinions here mean practically nothing, what matters is the 96 on metacritic through TONS of aggregated review scores and the millions sold. The majority are clearly happy, even if that isn't apparant here.

There is MUCH more to this game than just the combat and I certainly don't think Bioware skimped on the story and the depth of character interaction in favor of combat changes.

Maybe because the people who love the game are busy playing it, rather than complaining on these forums.

Seriously. This game beats the first one by far.
It seriously have me drooling for Mass Effect 3 and 4 already to continue the story. And i'm not even finished with this one.

Lol
Most are not disappointed. Maybe you tihnk that people being disappointed by one phase of the game makes them disappointed with the whole tihng. That would sure inflate that number. I'm disappointed by the AI, but I still love the game.

1. Just because you have guns, it doesn't mean it's not a RPG.
2. You DO have an inventory and upgrades. They are just diguised a bit.
3. All reviews I have seen have been 9/10 or better. Most people agree.
4. Mass Effect 1 was also a shooter with RPG-bits.

I dont hate ME2 and the combat not as bad as I thought it might be but its still falls well short of its original and I have to question if I want to waste this many hours of my life playing a mindless shooter.
Combat is insultingly easy in this game after you upgrade and I feel real pity for those saying this is so much better then ME1 combat wise. The AI a little smarter but tthats about it, still a shooter is a shooter and it isnt rocket science!
But that would even be acceptable if the story of ME1 was there. But its not. I feel no emotional connection to any of my squad mates, none what so ever. In DA:O, I WANTED to romance an bed Leilianna, in KotOR I wanted to be with Bastilla, same with JE. The personalities were built up and explained that you create connections to the characters. This isnt the case in ME2.
Sure you do their loyalty tests and those nice side missions but whats lacking from game is the conversations where you really learn about each other and who they think and react to different thngs.
2 HUGE mistakes were made with this game and who ever made these choices should be fired out a airlock as they simply dont understand Bioware games. The paragon/renegade +/- is gone from conversations with crew members (when you say it, not after the fact that leave you wondering what you said that was renegade) and 2) the comments and personalities showing when wandering around none combat areas between characters.
It got so freaking bad at one point im openly discussing how mordin did a certain no no to a race of people with ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE ALSO IN GROUP STANDING RIGHT THERE! Not a peep outta that other groupmate though, nothing!
ME2 fails on all levels of character building!
End result, if you want or care about the RPG crowd coming back for ME3, you need to relook and readd many of the RPG elements of this game. IF ME3 is basically the same as ME2, I dare say sales will drop 500k to 1 million sales because what made ME1 the greatest all time RPG was lost and forgotten in ME2 so a minority could have slightly better combat!

You're entitled to your opinion/disappointment/whatever but stand on your own two feet. Don't make it seem like the majority agrees with you when obviously they don't. Here, out in the real world, critically....or on any level.

There are more of them in the polls section. The complain mob is just louder and more disrespectful.

I disliked ME1 greatly, but I think ME2 is one of the greatest games of all time. Not because of the shooter element (although that has been improved greatly), but because EVERYTHING has been improved upon so much. I actually WANT to talk to people.

All of the people posting this post prefer ME2 as well. Not to mention every reviewer I can think of. Did anyone give ME2 an appreciably lower score than ME1?
