I loved ME1 and I love ME2, But I do think ME2 was missing something... Not sure what, but thats the feeling I got while playing it.

I guess because the first 1 to me had some points in the story where I was like
"holy $%#@ that's awesome" Like Sovereigns speech and finding out the true nature of the relays and the citadel.

ME2 didn't really have a moment like that for me. Finding out the Collectors history was probably the closest to that feeling but still didn't quite get the same reaction from me. Finding out their motivation for abducting Humans wasn't that mind blowing.

To me ME2 is a bridge between ME1 and ME3 which is fine, but what disappointed me about that was it didn't really try to hide that fact, it seemed like the story wasn't really epic and that it knew it was just a transition game... Not sure how to explain it because its more so just a feeling I had while playing and not a fact :P

The story wasn't to complex, u knew what the last mission would be, 10 minutes into the game. The game mechanics they changed, was it necessary? yeah sure, when u make a new game its always good to move forward and I actually like the changes for the most part.

But I am defiantly glad I bought it, and am currently on my second play through of it and enjoying it just as much as when I first started, although that was only a couple days ago to lol. Am I a little disapointed? Sure, but where my hype lvl may have been a 10 my satasifaction with it is like a 9.5 lol so I wasnt that disapointed :P

Its funny because even though the plot of the game seemed simple to me, and the missions seemed really easy and fast, but when I entered the Omega 4 relay and checked out my play time lol I was shocked at how much time I had spent total, time really did fly which means I must have enjoyed it :)

And I could Watch Miranda walk

Generalizations based on a vocal minority are a bad thing.

That is all.

What Sentient Being wrote above me is the simple truth of the whole matter. Case closed.

I'm a bit disappointed to be honest. I haven't been playing long but so far I don't like that most of the skills have been removed. I only have six skills (and three of them are to do with using differnt types of ammo), and what's more they only have four ranks. What do I do when I'm past level twenty four? I'm hoping more skills will be unlocked as the game progresses.

I don't like that decryption has been removed now you don't need a skill to get into boxes and terminals and stuff, all you have to do is beat the lame mini games.

And I certainly don't like the Call of Duty health system where you regenerate your health instantly when you stop taking damage. So if you're getting hit you just take cover for a few seconds and you're fine again. You only need medigel when someone is actually knocked out (unless I'm missing something).

They're just personal peevs though. They make these games for the masses, not for me personally. It's their game they can do what they want with it.

lol.

A game doesn't sell 3.5 million across two consoles and score the highest metacritic rating the genre has ever seen, and the highest one in years, and most of its players are disapointed.   OP, you are deluded, naive and kinda retarded :(

And why should my opinion be dictated to me by the mass media? Just because some people who write for some websites say that Mass Effect 2 is an amazing game that everyone should love does not mean that it is actually an amazing game that everyone should love. Reviews aren't academic studies any more; they are subject to horrific levels of bias. I should know because I write the damn things.

And as a furtherance I don't really care about sales. Initial sales are not based on whether the game is good or bad. They are based on hype. I bought the game because it was well marketed and placed on a horrifically large pedestal, to the point where I'd have had to be living in Middle Earth not to (a) know it was out and (B) know it was EAs flagship title of 2010.

So yeah - my opinion is my own and I won't have people telling me that I should have another opinion just because Metacritic gave a particular score or because 3.5 million overly excited people went out and purchased it. I can think of a fair few rubbish to average games that have sold pretty well tyvm.

Not that the OP is right. The OP is a douche. Just saying though.

This. Game is awesome I'll be honest. Some reviews however (excluding bioware) get bribed by game companies. Example: Ubisoft lol

Funny. I see more Bioware fanboys than people complaining. So no, the majority of players aren't too busy enjoying the game. If you guys enjoy the game so much, why are you on these forums 24/7, being blind sheep for EA, instead of enjoying the game? Why? Because the game lacks any substance.

Well, every single person who is in a position (through actual courses in journalism, and internship in the game media industry has qualified ME2 to be a good game.

Opinions are still opinions, but theirs is worth vastly more then yours.

I sure do like the game! I wish DA:O had sold as well as ME2 though. I like DA:O style games better and hope Bioware doesn't stop making them simply because they know they can make a bigger profit by releasing more ME.

That's not to say I don't love ME2, because I do. I just hope traditional RPGs don't suffer as a result of ME2's success.

I loved this game, i missed some elements from ME 1 (mainly some of the storyline mako missions, novaria anyone?)

Plus i really miss the citadel as it was, my favorite place in ME1 was the percidium and now you cant wonder around there. Also i miss talking to the Hanar, they were awesome haha

But overall i really enjoy ME2, particularly finding out that some people are gearing up for the fight with you (again someone big and important you help or kill on noveria XD) no spoilers after all

lol... Haters only see fanboys, and fans only see haters...

Truth of the matter is what you don't like is always the most obvious to you. That's 10 fold more obvious in a forum, take a step back and it's not that black and white.

This comment shows how little 99% of the public know about journalism and how the field actually operates, not only limited to games journalism but on a much wider scale :-) I'm not having that debate however as it could get quite ugly. And I'm reluctant to drive the thread off topic.

Needless to say I - and I suspect many others - think that what you said is total rubbish and should probably never be repeated. For your own sanity more than anything else.

That's paranoid fear and is common when someone who does something very well goes and does something else for a while, people get scared they've lost them to the 'dark side'. Considering BioWare just released a rather traditional tactical fantasy RPG I'm not worried in the least.

BioWare isn't a small one team company anymore, they can and should branch out for as long as they are successful in this business.

You couldn't be further from the truth.  Just because most people disagree with the OP doesn't make them fanboys.  Truth be told, most people seem to enjoy the game.  Many love it, but who honestly plays a game for days straight without getting on the forums to see what is going on?  Playing a game that long without a break is just insane.  That might have sounded weird, but you get my point...So no, just because I post on the forums doesn't mean I hate the game nor do I believe it doesn't have any substance.  I really enjoy this game as do MANY MANY MANY others (aka the majority).  For all the copies sold, the criticism is actually quite small.

Most of the games I play are first or third person shooters, single player campaigns and I don't play any online multiplayer. I am in the demographic Bioware is trying to cater to in terms of the gameplay changes.

I love ME, but ME2 blows. Make of that what you will.

Though this post has inspired varying degrees of cross and counter explanations and arguments, I will choose to not point out anything or anyone specific. Though it is true that Forums, on average, appear as a haven more for those who do not like something as opposed to those who do, the plain truth is that everyone is entitled to voice thier respective opinion. And, even if sometimes those views seem hard to bare or non-sensical, they are none the less the right of the post's author.

Though I do not ascribe to the reviews of sites such as IGN, Metacritic, etc, I feel pure elation at the fact that I truly Love this Game. ME2, for me, is everything I could have hoped for and more. Though I am more than Half Way through Shepard's journey there continue to be moments where I find myself shocked at the plot twists or at a character introduced. Though it has taken me some time to grow accustomed to the games more detailed play dynamics I have found the experience altogether amazing. Truly, I can feel only pity for those who have not been able to have the unforgettable experiance I have been privy to, whether because they have not been able to purchase the Title, or because, to them, the Game is just not what they wanted. Given the overly positive sales as well as reviews from larger sites, small blogs, etc, hopefully we will not have to wait another three years or more to conclude Shepard's Story...or lack-there-of if your respective Shepard did not survive. When we at last have the Third Chapter, I very much hope it finds greater favor with those who have found ME2 wanting.
