So Bioware, I love you guys, always have, but let's be honest here.

Mass Effect 2 is superior to Dragon Age in every possible way. The graphics are tons better, the action and combat is much more smooth,  the story seems more detailed and fleshed out, the characters are more developed, I could go on and on.

 My question is why?

Dragon Age was in development for what.......3 times as long as ME 2? Wasn't the dev time about 10 years? If not it was VERY close to it. Why is DA so far below the level that ME 2 is?

Did you guys just get sick of working on it? Were you just ready to get the thing released after all this time? Is ME 2 the goldmine that EA was looking for, therefor more money was pumped into the project?

 I just don't get it.

I didn't realize just how far behind DA was until I experienced the gloriousness of Mass Effect 2.

I really don't see the problem with Dragon Age at all. It's an excellent game, ME2 just happens to be better.

Dragon Age was a good game indeed......then Mass Effect 2 comes along.

I am just confused as to how a game that had a third of the dev time ended up so much better.

They already had the foundation for it in Mass Effect, it was mostly just improving on graphics, gameplay, and what not.

You are comparing a game developed with a stable engine to a game made from scratch and the results are utterly predictable. I haven't played ME2 yet, but I will be extremely surprised if it is not better than DA:O in all aspects that are comparable (obviously, the combat in DA:O is that of a classic party-based RPG whereas ME2 is more of a third person shooter so not everything can be compared). It makes sense to compare ME1 to DA:O (in my opinion, DA:O comes out quite a bit ahead) and, if it ever comes out, Dragon Age 2 to ME2 but comparing a sequel to a game with a brand new engine is not very enlightening.

Dragon Age is awesome, while Mass Effect 2 is... nice.

But, that's my personal opinion. I just prefer DA:O.

They're entirely different types of games, and because of that not really comparable though. To someone preferring shooters and fast-paced games, ME2 will be more interesting. To someone preferring old-styled RPG's, DA:O will be more interresting.

Hey, people, lay off. He might jsut have bad taste in games, which isn't at all the same thing as being a troll.

Although it's kind of stupid to post on a game's own board and expet to find a lot of people who think that another game is much better....

Actually, forget I said anything. Nobody's that dumb.

Was this thread an afterthought?

Just because you, personally, prefer ME2 means that DA was an afterthought? What a conceited, self-centered, idiotic stance.

i dont personally. i love the dragon age genre and what not especailly elder scrolls oblivion when i play me2 it feels flawless though I dont even think dragon age can hold a candle to oblivion DAO is still good though...oblivions dlc is no comparison to DAO either. DAO could have been better after all the time they spent on it

Personally, I like DA better than ME2. But...that's just me. Besides, the team for DA was a different team than the ME2 one. One's fantasy, the other's sci-fi. One's a traditional RPG, the other a TPS with RPG elements. Seriously. If you like ME2 better, that's fine. But comparing them on the same scale is odd, since they weren't made to be alike.

i dont see how the games are that different....roll around with 2 squad mates....talk with all ur squad mates do their sidequests..travel the galaxy/land do side quests..make decisons that effect the outcome of the game one is a tps when is mmo style they are pretty much the same if you ask just totally different stories. All the foundations are exactly the same

Compare Mass effect 2 with the upcoming Dragon age sequel. :P

From a crafting standpoint,Mass effect 2 is indeed vastly superior but it's not fair to compare both game.

The original Mass effect team had member which got replaced for various reason (strongest being their job not so well done).I think the same thing will happen with Dragon age 2 and we will have a vastly improved game. ^_^

I thought Mass effect was subpar and Dragon age had more of everything.

And as said Mass effect 2 used an already existing engine while dragon age engine was build from scratch, I think Dragon age 2 will be much better, and hey I think Mass effect 2 will be better than the original to but I havent played it yet.

But the point is there is no reason to compare Mass effect 2 and Dragon age.

DA got 9.5 on Gamespot, ME2 got 9.0. So what can we use this for? Abselutely nothing.

They are both great games.

End of line. (Hwaha, i feel like a guy from bioware when i say this).

EDIT: And i think it is silly arguing which of these are better when they are SUPERIOR to so many games out there.
These games have that quality that around 0.5% of games made these days have.
