In Mass Effect 2:

My monitor's native resolution is 1600x1200. Is there anyway to set it to a widescreen resolution (such as 1600x900) with black bars at the top and bottom?

No. BUT you can set it to 1600x900 in the game and just use the vertical adjustment on the monitor to squish the height down so you have black bars. (;

Thanks! I was able to sort of do it by playing in a 1600x900 window on a black background. Seems silly to have to do that though.
