My theory since ME1: Sha'ira the Consort is the Shadow Broker. This is only further enforced by the news report in ME2 of her intention of leaving the Citadel. Could she be fleeing the Citadel because someone's getting close to finding the truth (namely, Liara)?

My money is the Shadow Broker is obviously a agent for the Reapers. Either a Reaper created species like the Keepers or just a uniquely created person/alien, maybe even an AI with a very long life span like the Thorian. It would make sense though since the Reapers have to keep tabs on sentient life in the galaxy so every time one of their sleepers in the galaxy wake they get the info that the Shadow Broker has gathered. This kind of fits in with the trade of info that Shadow Broker collects. It could be possible that its pushing the development of some civilizations to the height of the most advanced to produce a larger harvesting for the next Reaper invasion.

I don’t believe the Illusive Man is the Shadow Broker but I do believe he and Cerberus are up to something. He seems to be playing a game of chess and Shepard is his king piece.

SB doesn't =TIM nor reaper; if you read the Redempetion comics, its obvious they are separate beings, TIM tells you SB is the exact oppostie of himself in regards to espinoge & info trafficing.  TIM is human, or at least was human, read the prolouge to ME: Ascenscion.  If SB was a reaper, then why would Harbringer, via the Collector general in Redemption #1, contact SB for its services in the 1st place; thats like hiring yourself to find something you want!  Collectors would always ask for odd things (read here) & pay top $.

Or better yet do you think The Illusive Man could be Banes? The guy that was apparently harrasing Dr. Micheal BUT wait he was dead. That was the first person I thought of.

Illusive man is Ambassador Udina!

On the suicide mission after you defeat the reaper/human skeleton thing. TIM gets patched through to you "shepard you have achived the impossible" whilst giving you the udina special clenched fist!

A joke but hey it's less obvious than him being the shadow broker :P

Yeah but Liara said that the Shadow Broker wanted to sell Shepard's body to the collectors but she took it from him and gave it to Cerberus/TIM. So... no, he can't be it, because he didn't sell Shepard to the collectors.

True. TIM is not the Shadow Broker for the thousandth time.

I'm fairly convinced the Shadow Broker is in fact an AI... to paraphase Barla Von 'How else would they keep track of so many contacts, so many pieces of information, at once'...

Also as has been pointed out, TIM went to some lengths to get Shepard's body, which the Broker wanted to sell to the Collectors.

That is my own pet theory too. An AI or possibly an actual organization. But the AI seems more likely to me. Explains more of his behaviour.

TIM is not the SB. It would also make perfect sense if the SB was a Volus. They have to be some of the most boring, unassuming, and most well connected beings in the galaxies.

speculation......speaking of which wouldnt it be intresting if the illusive man was a cyborg created by the protheans (before they were enslaved)

TIM wasn't made by the protheans, he was an ordinary human who decided to take matters into his own hands to ensure human dominance as he sees fit. Read the codexes & books people! Cyborg, maybe, but being a cyborg, like any human biotic, just means you have artificial part added to or in place of a body part; a robot or AI like the security mechs & geth are completely different from a cyborg. The proto-human reaper is called a bio-android; like Melfina from Outlaw Star. Please get your definitions straight!

Have you not tought that shadow broker may be a female instead of male. After all females do tend to be more devious than us males.

Shadow Broker could be that malicious AI that you encounter in ME1 in the finical center created by Cerberus.

That AI self-destructed, so there is no way it is the SB. The SB seems to have been around longer than even human's emergence on the galactic scene. SB can't be tied to Cerberus, or at least part of Cerberus presently, b/c TIM tells you that SB is his "rival" in terms of info trading. SB is an info broker/trader to the highest bidder, TIM is an info gather to further his own agenda. SB can be an individual or a group (if its a group an AI can be part of it, but by itself, very doubtful). SB seems to have been around along time.

I agree that it is an organization or possibly an Artificial Intelligence.  But what AI really needs money or monetary values.  None that we have seen so far in the game.  Geth, Reapers, and EDI, certainly dont care about money.  I really dont think its an AI.  I want to go along the lines of someone said Sha'ira or maybe even the Galactic Council.  Now wouldnt that be a twist.

Geth, the Reapers and EDI don't have to function in the human society, manipulating politics. The Shadow Broker does. If EDI had to buy her own upgrades, she'd most definately care about money. Artificial consciousness doesn't equal communist.

I...Why in the name of the gods and goddesses does Illusive Man always have to BE something else besides the Illusive Man?! In some threads he's Miranda's father, or the Shadow Broker, or secretly working with the Collectors/Reapers, or he's some kind of cybernetic ghost reaper vampire in diguise. This is not the show LOST, this is Mass Effect. In Mass Effect, things actually make sense and the shark has not been jumped.

Liara tells you that the SB was trying to acquire you to sell you to the Collector's. So it's possible that Wilson was being paid to bring you down so you could be captured by the collectors. I retract my OP and agree that TIM probably isn't the Shadow Broker, but its also not impossible that he is.

Actually my best guess is that the Shadow Broker is Miranda's father.

I still find it incredibly unlikely that the Shadow Broker would be human.
