maybe i should say biotics arent so great. my problem lies with the universal cooldown. why use more then one ability if they all refresh at the same rate? theres not alot fo difference in using whichever biotic the adept has, over just using a bonus ability like slam ever 3 seconds in order to do your CC.

im running into this problem as an adept. im playing an adept, which i loved in ME1, but its completely useless having all those biotics at your disposal when you can only use them once at a time. sure there are occasions when youd want to use a pull/throw combo, or when a shockwave would work better then a throw, but thats all negated since i can do the same amount of CC with my sentinel(with only throw) as i could with my adept and all its powers becasue one ability works just as well as 5 with universal cooldown.

i guess im just used to how untouchable my adept was in ME1. singularity sucks as well.

ive never played a non biotic in ME, and i played through over 30 times. i might just have to start an infiltrator build and see how that works in ME2. maybe my new cclass choice will just vary per game. heck maybe in ME3 ill play a soldier.

NOT!

ya i totally agree. its what i thought after my 1st time playing like an hour into it. im like 'wtf, global cd?' the whole point of adept was keeping all enemies CC'd. and now the addition of not being able 2 CC enemies if they have armor/shield/barrier as well... basically negated teh adept class :/

Cooldown comes up pretty fast and the conditions of the battle change quickly enough to warrant switching abilities. I played a Vanguard and found myself using Charge, Shockwave, and Pull quite often.

I was able to do combos on my Vanguard occasionally after shortening the cooldowns a lot with appropriate skills/upgrades. At any rate, if you can't do it yourself, that's what you have your other biotic teammates for. You are supposed to work in tandem, and you're not supposed to be a superman/superwoman all by yourself really.

I totally agree here, i playd the first run as an soldier, no problem there. then i was thinking of going adept,, 5min.. thats what it took for me to notice that it sucks,, global cooldown must be fixed..

and i dont buy that, u need to work in an team,, ur an adept, ur the total bio user, ur the one caster, it sucks that the power casters need to come in 2.

Mass effect 2 NEED an big patch, fixing, scanners. cooldown on powers, and more to do outside gather squad members,,,

and i dont wanna here. there wont be an patch. they will fix it in mass effect 3.. wtf is that? i bugh this game and i wanna enjoy play it now. i dont want to wait for one more year for them to fix this.
to get an big patch for mass effect 2 now would be big of bioware.

another taerrible part about abilities and global cooldowns, is that when i play a sentinel, my biotics are on cooldown after i use a tech ability. i thought theyd be completely separate with one another allowing me to use a throw followed immediately by overload.

its just a shame they went this route, because it only makes having more then one ability become redundant. a sentinel with throw can easily be substituted for an adept with throw/pull/shockwave/singularity.

its a different game, i get it, but i dont know why they thought this was a better aproach then individual cooldowns. individual cooldowns require you o think more tactically, using whichever ability would work best. now its just use one ability everything seconds, and doesnt matter which one they all work the generally same.

Not game breaking. Easy to overcome. Use more efficient skills. Mind control everything.

But on a serious note, biotics/techs are already near-broken. This drawback is the only thing keeping the normal gunner classes close in power level.

That i have to agree with, would've been nice if Tech-skills and Biotics did not share cooldowns.

All I read here is "bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah"

I prefer my adept to any other class on insanity, sure you're not a total powerhouse 24/7, but you can murder pretty much any defense with warp fully upgraded (which is more then worth it).

You guys might wanna learn to aim with a heavy pistol some more, then come back and cry you can't hide behind a corner playing Jedi!

I never had a problem with the Universal Cooldown, nor has my lady who does play an Adept in the game. Actually she praised how much better it seemed than in ME1 as she hated waiting forever for one power to come "back online"

crying? im compareing an adept from ME1 to an adept in ME2. theres noticable diferences, you cant play each one the same way. one is better, one is worse. its good to know for anyone just starting out wondering about how biotics work as well. im certainly not crying about it. but if it makes you feel all the more manly calling people cry babies, by all means, have at it.

ive been playing my sentinel alot now and i still havent found a real reason to go back to the adept just to have pull/sing/shockwave, when using throw every 3 seconds works just as well. i even added slam for another biotic CC ability but i never even use that becasue like ive stated, you only need one biotic CC ability to spam.

Well yes, I actually make time to visit forums and make myself feel manly by calling people I don't care about crybabies, you got me there good sir!

But no seriously, there is a lot of change from ME1 to ME2 in the biotic appartmentz, but hey I like it this way.

Yes sometimes you can feel a bit useless with the shields and all, but once they are down you can practically take out groups of enemies with a shockwave.

I prefer shooting (hey I use my gun!) next to playing Jedi behind some cover like I did in ME1, which was a majestic feeling, but combined with the long cooldowns on the powers (and really, we lived for Throw and Singularity) it just didn't feel that hectic.

Throw a warp, place a few good pistol shots in the sod, finish em off with a throw/slam/singularity/pull whatever.

so you admit defeat!?!

when im playing the sentinel, i do still miss using diferent biotics like pull and shockwave for the looks tho. using throw non stop gets old fast.

While I dont mind the global cooldown (most of the powers recharge fast enough for my Adept to pull a Lift, Throw combo) I was disappointed by the lack of Power Singularity seems to have this time around. Maybe its just me, but I only really used it when I wanted to set a trap, where as in the last game I could walk into a room, use it, and watch my enemies all be pulled in a crushed by flying furniture. This is only a small complaint however, I love the ability to fire biotics around corners, and the fact that they chase your foes. I also love Warp this time around, as it seems far more effective then in ME1.
