There's more than one, though I won't say where/when. That one you mention was fairly easy with the knights helping, plus a Tempest spell placed up at the archers. The second time fighting one though, that was a very long fight with some creative tactics needed to pull off without a wipe (though I am doing it on Hard difficulty on the PC, not supposed to be easy.

I think I'm going to burn some puppies to express my anger if I will have to face a Revenant again with my party full of porcelain ****** that are out of healingpots.
Got a mage in your party?
Cone of Cold is a lifesaver!
Also Vulnerability Hex + Spells works well

[edit]: Go to the elf village, buy sh!tloads of elfroot, mix up potions and set your companions strategy to drink one whenever they get below 50% health. Could help.

My problem with them was that Alistair just couldn't do enough damage to hold aggro. My PC ending up evasion-tanking Gaxxkang for about half that fight. One fight in the forest I had to run a loop around some obstacles three or four times before he lost interest in Morrigan.

As for killing them, it's so easy. Have your tank taunt then throw a forcefield on him/her. Your tank also needs to be wearing the best armour of your group or they may loose aggro and mob will go after the one that does. All other team members do ranged attacks. Revenant( or any other encounter for that matter) will stay focused on your tank while you turn it into a pin-cushion.

Misdirection hex not so much, as it can be resisted and it has 50% uptime (20s duration, 40s recharge).
A thing that helps with orgres and renevants is that some combat moves are point blank AoEs. They don't target a specific person, so you can move away. One such being Massive Attack. When I see that one pop over boss' head, I pause and move all my melee away and it does no damage. This is helpful if you use multiple melees.

Why would one want to open the gate in the redcliffe castle courtyard? I came up through the basement. does help come through the gate if i open it? i am curious about this. I basically left the castle to go fight elsewhere and level before i come back and face this revenant. i simply couldnt kill him yet. i came close, but not close enough.
Yes, just open the gate and the Redcliff knights come in and attack, it makes it really easy then.

I don't think you can see them, but they will spawn when you open the gate.

1. Everyone hold
2. Morrigan draws Revenant from doorway with auto mage attack
3. Revenant usually comes followed by only one melee guy.
4. Position Morrigan at a 90 deg. angle to Allistair
5. Have Allistair get two melee attacks on the Revenant to grab and hold aggro for the entire fight.
6. Morrigan CoC on Revenant and melee add.
7. Everyone but tank focuses fire on melee add. If you have one of them as a melee in the backstab position, chances are very good you'll shatter the first melee add.
8. It will take about 5-10 seconds for the other melee adds to come. Have Morrigan on auto attack and the other two party members DPSing as much as possible. Use mind blast and darkness to keep the damage your other two party members take to a minimum
9. Remember to use CoC on Revenant whenever it recharges.
10. Once melee is taken care of, send your two other party members up to the stairs to kill the archers. Again, have them attack the same enemy, position them to ensure one of them is doing backstab damage, and throw out as much DPS as you can possibly manage. Morrigan won't help in that fight. Just have her continually auto attack the Revenant at this point until CoC is recharged.
11. Once the archers are down, focus all fire on the Revenant. Your two characters will most likely have had to use a few healing pots to make it through their fights and Morrigan should have done nothing but auto attack and throw Allistair heals, using CoC whenever it recharges. Also vulnerability hexes help the CoC damage.
I found that CoC is the only thing Morrigan should be using in that fight, unless you're substantially higher level and have unlocked crushing prison. The basic ice attack is resisted by the Revenant at least 80% of the time, while CoC is resisted easily less than 10% of the time. And every other attack besides vulnerability hex is, IMHO, just a waste of mana.
In any event, that's how you beat almost every revenant fight, if, like me, you refuse to use taunt/force field on principle. Well that's a lie. I'll use it in desperate situations like when I forget to buy health pots or ingredients for boss fights and if I don't use it I'd have to reload from an earlier save or drop the difficulty... but I try my best to avoid it. It really is the single most broken tactic in the game.
