Hey, not sure if anyone can shed some light on my issue here. Whenever I attempt to log into the Cerberus Network a screen pops up and asks me for my "Guardian's Email," like I've created a new account or something. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
I have a EA and BioWare Accounts linked to one another, the DLC codes are redeemed on this BioWare site, ME2 is registered here too, and I've installed the new DLC. I just can't complete the last step and log into the Cerberus Network in game to authorize the items. Its starting to get a little frustrating; I would like to use the content I paid for. If anyone can help me find a solution to this that would be greatly appreciated.
After I type in a "Guardian's Email," just to see what may happen, it gives me an error message stating it cannot connect...

Such a redundant mechanic. I'm 18, I don't need my parent's permission to play a damned GAME.

I have exactly the same problem. Both the question for the legal guardian and then the error message that it can't connect to the server. Sure would be nice if we could have a solution or at least a statement that it's been noticed and is being worked on. Appreciated.

To clarify: My system meets all requirements, I'm running Windows 7 and the Steam DDE version of the game. I had no problems downloading the content, only with logging into Cerberus to authenticate it, so I can't use the Cerberus content nor the DDE content. I've deactivated my firewall, but it didn't change anything: there's still only an error message saying that the login timed out and couldn't connect to the server.

I've read something on a German board that could be a solution to your problem.
Someone said it fixed his problems when he tried to log in on his EA online profile and verified his account.

I already did this and it is still not working...
I downloaded the DLC but it cannot be "authorized" because the damn thing says my account needs guardian approval.
Also my EA download manager tells me that my account is not activated. But i activated the damn thing a long time ago.

I just purchased ME2 and found that I had created my EA account when i picked up Dragon Age, but I am having this same guardian email BS. I'm 31... pretty sure I don't need to call my mom for permission to play a video game.

I'll go ahead and bump this because I'm having the same problem, I verified my EA account to see if that would make it better, but all it did was take me to a page that said it was verified, then there's no link on that page. I navigated to my profile through my URL bar instead and went to my profile, and my username still has red bracketed words next to it that say "(Unverified)" .
And I still have the same thing going on with my cerberus network. It asks for a guardian e-mail. I'm 16, so okay. Understandable, but now that I see it happening to older people as well I'm starting to wonder. I tried typing in my dad's e-mail and pressed continue, and it also gave me an error message.
I really want to play the DLC I downloaded. I've never done the Normandy crash site or had Zaeed on my team, and I want to try the hammerhead out. :/

Mass Effect 2 is an M-rated game; as such, you're supposed to be 17 or older to play it. If your age in your EA account is under 17, then that may be why you're seeing this message. It's also possible that having no age listed will give you this same error.
Note that this is just speculation. I suggest you contact EA support to see if they have a proper answer.

I live in Germany, bought the german cover which says 16+.
There's also one that says 15+. I think it's only the US one that's 17+
EDIT: Yesss, I seem to have fixed it by varifying me EA account. (Even though it refuses to believe I did.)

1. You have a SITE problem, not a GAME problem. This thread is in the wrong forum for that.
2. Bioware / EA chose a DOB for their sites that isn't dependent on the local laws. I think it actually may be looking for age 18, but you can ask about that in the correct (SITE Help) forum.
