Of course you can survive it but then someone else has to be sacrificed.

I had actually thought this might be the best possible use for Loghain....  Let me & Alister survive without having to risk future complications from the dark ritual.
Unfortunately, I was hoping to have Alister ruling as King alone, but force him to let Loghain join the wardens (as my sacrificial lamb).  This didn't seem to be possibe.  I've read that it can happen with Alister marrying Anora.  I had hoped it would work with Alister alone, but as soon as you get forced to choose between Anora or Alister, and choose Alister, he immediately proceeds to ask which one of us is going to finish off Loghain.

It was too bad, as soon as Loghain's head hit the floor, it limited my future options given that I wanted to port my PC over to awakenings....

Has anyone been successful in having Alister rule alone as king, not kill Loghain & therefore able to sacrifice him to the archdemon?

If you side with Loghain then you lose Alistair as a party member no matter what. He can still marry Anora, but that's it.

Someone else has to be sacrificed, or someone else has to have sex with Morrigan? Sacrifice I can get into, but not forced sex with Morrigan.

Someone else has to be sacrificed.

Sacrifice I can get into; having to have loveless sex or ask someone else to do it, I can't. So I don't want my character to survive that way. But I'm sorry that players have to make that choice. There are so many choices in the game about how you will behave and interact with others, but in the end if you want to carry your character on into the Awakening it's you with Morrigan or somebody else with Morrigan. OK, I just don't get to carry my character into the Awakening. No big deal. But I don't like the idea of the game ending on that unlovely note.

I understand, and I don't think anyone likes it. But the game is all about difficult decisions and, if nothing else, you learn why the Grey Wardens are so important.

OK, is it possible for my PC to survive the final battle without anybody being forced to have sex with anybody?

If the answer is 'no', this was a foolishness on the part of Bioware. I asked someone who had played DAO quite a bit about the sexual content, giving that as my reason for not wanting to buy the game, and he said you did not have to participate in the sexual content to the extent of 'having sex' ; you could draw the line in your conversations. Just like, in a more complex way, not asking for the key to the upper room at the Moonstone Mask in Neverwinter Nights.

That made sense, so I bought it. Now this.

Actually I'm 99% certain the Ritual will be the official ending for DA2.When DA2 comes out IM almost certain it'll be about Morrigans baby...

Can you use your PC in Awakening, even though he is sacrificed in the OC?

What is DLC?

First question, from what I have read, no.  You can only use PCs that are still living.  However, you can modify them from what I understand, which sounds intriguing, or use the character provided.

DLC is downloadable content, such as Return to Ostagar (which PS3 users are still waiting for, boo Sony).

Houndiddy,

May I suggest you read the prequel books by David Gaider.  I just recently discovered them, and now after reading them, a lot of things make clearer sense, as well as giving a couple of Hmms to think about and one very big OMG, I had no idea moment.

>>the game is all about difficult decisions<<

Precisely! I am glad someone said it. The game is supposed to be dark and force you into difficult decisions - you can't always have things the way you want them, that is one of the messages in the game.

I would have rather Alistair not curse me and run off, but Anora was the better choice for ruler and letting Loghain join the Wardens was - in my opinion - the better choice for Fereldan. The game forces you to make sacrifices - it isn't about happy endings.

Maybe not being able to carry your character into Awakening is not so bad. As long as I am not forced by the game to either make a decision against what my PC, whom I wish to be as decent as anyone can be, thinks is right ... the ending will be acceptable.

I'm in the same boat as you.  I sacrificed my character and now I'm torn because I'd like to use her in Awakening...but I think I made the right choice as far as the ending.

One possibility I'd be satisfied with is if they let me import my now dead character into Awakening, and she stays dead and I have to use a new character but the history of my old character is still there. Its not a perfect solution because I'd still like to play my character, but I recognize the choice I made was my choice.

I agree, Yeled, and appreciate your comments. I'm OK with what has to happen. I know kids will play, though, and I hope some kids will not feel they did something stupid when they make the choice not to play Morrigan's game.

I also thank Morgan21 for giving me a direct answer to my root question about sex and sacrifice. I don't know how to do these quotes.
