Fairly often, a black background will appear behind some words/letters in the subtitle text. It's really annoying.

yea i noticed that also when i play.. maybe a patch will fix it.

Its happening to lots of people, especially the ones encountering the random crashes. For some of those, its an indicator the game is about to crash.
Its thought currently that the crash issue is either a system temperature issue (the game crashes because the cpu, gpu, north bridge, or ram overheats), or video driver issues.
When I see it happen during a cutscene or conversation I save the game and exit as quickly as I can (I'm one of the people the game crashes for, too much lost playtime). I would say it probably is some sort of graphical artifacting, and a sign the system is becoming unstable, for whatever reason.
