You find Ashley/Kaidan on Horizon and after that TIM gives you a second-set of dossiers which lead you to Illium where Liara resides.

Bioware makes it tough to stay in love with your ME 1 character, but they have basically told us that they did this on purpose as ME 3 will "reward" you for doing so. Now, that is not saying you get necessarily punished if you choose someone else in ME 2, just don't expect a good ending with Liara or Ashley...

I felt fine with my relationship with Liara. I know that she loves my Shep and still feels close to him. Even though I slept with Tali on my way to the final battle, I don't see why that means that my relationship with Liara is over.
It will be mighty interesting to see if Bioware agrees with me.

Haha I had a relationship with Ash from my ME1 Character, and after seeing her I went over to Miranda. If ME3 has them both I can expect Ash to knock me a good one.
