Why not a simple decision tool at beginning?

I played ME1 on the 360, long story short...I don't have the 360 anymore or the save file. So I bought ME2 for PC.

Couldn't Bioware just incorporate a simple decision maker tool at the beginning of this game?
Ex.
You left who to die?  A) Ashley  B) Kaden
You killed Wrex  A) Yes   B) No
You got busy with  A) Liara   B) Ashley  C) Saren

It didn't feel right throughout the game to have all of these preset decisions made for me....
Tali: "I saw your face when you killed Wrex"
Me: "I did what now?"

They created a story that would make the most sense to a player who had not played ME1. Most of us hardcore folks played through ME1 in the last few months to get ready. I suppose they could have let you choose, but that would have been really confusing for people who were new to the game.

If you have ME2 for PC, you can find an ME1 savegame at the ME save game repository. Masseffectsaves.com I think the url is. A decision maker tool might have been tool complicated to implement, however.

Before ME2 came out the devs were talking about including this... I'm guessing it will be implemented later via DLC. If nothing else it should definitely be an option for NG+

Not keeping your saves is your own fault, as stated before new players to the ME series would be very confused as they wouldn't of known the story nor characters before so such a tool would be highly illogical.

But really there are sites such as masseffectsaves.com.. so you can find an ideal save for all possibly playthroughs.

They could have solved that with a simple yes/no..."Have you ever played ME1 before?"

It just seems so easy to implement, I don't understand how this was overlooked cause I know I'm not the only one with this issue.  I wouldn't be surprised if the community stepped up and made a mod to solve this.

edit: and apparently the community did; thanks for link guys.

I think that's a good idea. One of the things I didn't like about importing my character was all this bonus stuff you get. You get a lot of credits and some resources. I'm one of these people who thinks it's too easy to make money in these games as it is. So I decided to create a new character, and in the first cutscene it's like "Shepard left the councel to die..." And I'm like nope, can't have that.

haha wow, I didn't know they assumed both Wrex and the council died. That's pretty harsh. Although, I guess saving Wrex WOULD be the default. If I remember correctly you need to have a certain level of charm/intimidate to save him. You have to EARN the right to keep him....but wow...

So how does Tuchanka play out if Wrex is not there? Do they just put a different Krogan in his seat or is it significant?

Yeah there's a different krogan and the clans aren't united.
