Is the "Leviathan of Dis" a reaper or something else completely different?

It's supposedly organic. So no, not a reaper.

I read on the wiki that the Leviathan of Dis was a reference to the 'Farscape' series (there are massive organic starships called leviathans on it). This could mean that the leviathan was just an easter egg and nothing more (a.k.a it will be forgotten about in ME3). Then again we can never be certain, maybe the leviathan will return in ME3 and we will have to fight the Batarians for it.

Prepare for immediate Starburst!

Although I could totally see that.  John Crichton is one of the few individuals I could see actually standing a chance against the Reapers.  Now that was a world-ender done right.  No deus ex machina there, the wormhole technology had been played up and gotten more important over the course of three seasons (a little over, but it didn't show up until the end of the first season).  When he finally uses it, you know it is going to be huge.  It was mostly the fact that he didn't want to use it, since the thing had the potential to wipe out the galaxy, and more.  The Reapers wouldn't stand a chance.

Organics fighting machine ships with organic ships screams cliche. No thanks.

If everyone thinks about it, the Collectors were making a human reaper in the base werent they? who says that you cant do the same but through honorable means? sure it might be weaker and take the total ****** to build , but it could at least give you an edge over the amassed army of Reapers that would most likely rape Earth over in the blink of an eye. I dont trust Cerberus either , but i know im not the only one who would take a risk to save 1,000,000+ lives and be a complete **** in the process.

Hard choice, by destroying it we may have given up an upper hand. But then again the reapers probly didn`t expect that Shepard would destroy their plans Twice!. It`s like humanity defies what the Reapers have done for millenia. We manage to do what other species don`t we defy the rules that the reapers use in a way.

The greatest weapon is not an star destroying laser or an big battleship it may very well be humanity itself, maybe the chaotic order of nature managed to find an way through humanity to break the cycle. And the capture of an collector base would probly give the galaxy an bigger edge just look at the Thanix Magnetic-Hydrodynamic Weapon discovered of the remains from Sovereign

Quote from the mass effect wiki

Following the Battle of the Citadel, human and turian volunteers conducted a massive three-month survey effort to clear the station's orbit of debris. Secretly, the turian Office of Technological Reconnaissance "volunteers" were technology recovery specialists salvaging the main weapon of the geth flagship Sovereign, and large amounts of its valuable element zero core.

Contrary to popular belief, Sovereign's main gun was not a directed energy weapon. Rather, its massive element zero core powered an electromagnetic field suspending a liquid iron-uranium-tungsten alloy that shaped into armor-piercing projectiles when fired. The jet of molten metal, accelerated to a fraction of the speed of light, destroys targets by impact force and irresistible heat.

Only 11 months after the battle, the turians produced the Thanix, their own miniaturized version of Sovereign's gun. The Thanix can fire reliably every five seconds, rivaling a cruiser's firepower but mountable on a fighter or frigate.

You realize that there's a hundred+ thread just a few pages back that covers this, right?

I'm playing a Shepard now who is pretty balanced between paragon and renegade. I'm going to have this one keep the base. But most everyone else will destroy it. I don't trust any government or cerberus to use the base for a good cause. Shepard's philosophy is Power Corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely and I think the base represents a lot of possible power.

I'm just gonna have multiple saves, one where I save it and one where I don't. It's easy enough to do.

Either way, I can't wait to see what Bioware has in store.

I have done both. With my Paragon i blew it up with no second thought in my mind. With my Renegade it did not. I could see him thinking that it would give him an edge in the fight to come.

I thought the same thing about council rescue and council appointment decisions.

Honestly, I expect the Collector base decision to be equally meaningless come ME3.

What made me decide to destroy it was when Shepherd asked something along the lines of, "For the good of humanity, or the good of Cerberus?"  And TIM said that, "Cerberus is humanity."  I knew I couldn't allow that.  Sure, it seemed mildly hypocritcial as I stood there with the Collector Beam on my back, but my team managed to foil the Reaper plot twice without using their tech.  Plus, I was concerned that either Cerberus itself would use the tech for domination, or they'd give it to the Alliance and the Alliance would see it as a chance for comlete human dominance.  Maybe I felt guilty about letting the Council die in ME1 so I was making up for it by keeping a certain balance?  Although, it was really more in line with my goal of promoting relations among species.

Both on different characters.

That's the whole point isn't it? (Experience the whole game)

Beyond that it's just speculation.
