I do HUGE tactics. Using geography to my advantage, pulling on part of a group my way to make it more manageable, making sure to flank enemies and be behind them. Using stun spells and healing spells. I press space bar 400 per fight so that I may micro-manage every single move of every single one of my party members. But in most fights, I usually totally run out of potions and mana and eventually, party members. I use Acids, poisons and maximime the ability usage of each of my party members. Each fight takes me about 15 minutes to run and almost invariably, my party gets wiped. Like I said: NO FUN + TOTAL FRUSTRATION = ME NO PLAY. Bioware really screwed up on that one.

The problem here is that you are a total noob.

I've played more RPGS that you ever did. Hell, I MADE RPGs (Wizardry series for Sir-Tech). I've been playing almost all PC RPGS since Alakabeth came out on the Apple ][. So don't go around calling me a noob because that's just too funny.

I'm shocked to find people hating this game because of difficulty.

There is NO sense of acheivement in just walking up to something and hewing it down, one of my friends actually only got excited about this game when I told him that he was going to have to use strategy in his figths and it wouldn't just be a breeze.

Most games these days really are just too easy most of the time - I do love Final Fantasy though one thing that ticks me off is it's not really that much of a challenge for the main storyline most of the time. In FFX the only REALLY hard bit were the dark aeons - though a few main boss fights took a little thoguht.

If you are finding the game too hard, tune it down - even if only for a little while as you will constantly learning how to better your playing style no matter the difficulty

Dear god, the game isn that hard. I have tried both the pc and the PS3 version. PC is a little harder but come on...its not that bad. Did you ever play Baldurs Gate 1 or 2, Icewind Dale? Those games were brutal. And to the guy who made the Fanboy comment...really? Its obvious you guys have never tried old school bioware games, ie. Baldurs Gate and Neverwinter Nights.

Learn to play..its not that hard. Or better yet, sell the game..one less whiner on this board who cant figure out how to play the game.

Thats what happens when you come from WoW to a real rpg. If you didnt play Baulders gate you are gonna have a hard time. This is Old school rpg and tactical thinking or you are dead meat.

Might wanna read the manual and learn how to script your npc's for events. Also remember you need to think from a "Party" perspective and not a ME, I perspective.

Actually, coming from top end wow arena to this is extremely easy. Playing on hard pc and I just group attack focus a target and throw a heal whenever.... on big groups you can throw some cc around... big deal?

I'm loving every second of the combat. It is challenging, tactical and fun. Which is how I like it. ^_^
I'm playing on Hard for the record.

Easy Mode even on hard= Living Bomb, run at him with tank using threat, finish him off at range, blow everyone up, wake your tank up off the ground

You don't know how many RPG's I've played.  So what you say regarding that holds no water.

Anyway, Just because you've played other RPG's doesn't mean you aren't a noob at this game (which from what you've been saying, you absolutely are).

Just put it on EASY and be happy. Just think, you have more replayability than us starting on NORMAL or HARD.

It sounds like your just really bad at the game IMHO.  (you also type like you have down syndrome or something)

Also, Drakensang is a HYPER-generic fantasy RPG with AWFUL voice acting and overall a pretty mediocre piece of garbage.

Not in my opinion, Drakensang has better graphic engine, and better fight sequences / more spells, detailed world, skills for warriors, and so on. I do like the story too, also its much longer than DA, and did you noticed ? DA has predefined paths for players - its not RPG style  :-) I forget to mention that :D

I agree with the voice acting :D its game from Germany, they think their English is good, but not :D (my one is horrible too, you should heard me , lol)

I'm having the same problem as the OP, and no I haven't played baldurs gate or the like before. I have played KOTOR 1 and 2, but this is far far more difficult. I'm playing on normal on the PC and I was doing alright for awhile, but I've hit a total wall at Redcliffe. My party members seem to ignore my commands and do their own thing, or just stand there doing nothing until I order them to attack, and not being able to queue up abilities means I'm pausing almost every second. I would really like some advice on how to play a game like this (I'm familiar with all the traditional roles, tank dps heals). because it is getting rather frustrating rather quickly.

This game is simple compared to the Baldur's Gate series. I wonder how much experience you have had with real PC role playing games. Games have over the years become to easy so that anyone can play. This game will not be for everyone.

I started out the game on Hard instead of Normal difficulty, and I'm only running into a moderate amount of challenge (I'll admit that I've played many games like this in the past).

I think it depends on whether or not strategy games are your cup of tea...if they are, then you'll keep at it and learn more about it until you master it.

If you're just mainly interested in the role-playing and storytelling aspects of it but don't care so much for strategic gameplay, then you should just change the difficulty mode to easy so that you don't have to worry about it.

Strategic games take more time, effort, and patience than the average game to master, but if you stick to it and continue to learn about all of the tools and weapons that it offers, you'll soon find that you've got a much better handle on things.

Otherwise, perhaps you should just conclude that strategy games are not your thing and switch to Easy mode if you find the other aspects of the game interesting enough to continue.

I enjoy a game that finally requires some thought. Oblivion, NWN, and just about every other RPG in recent memory has been run through and never die, it's a nice change.

As far as your game IS crap, this comes to mind:

""Is", "is." "is" — the idiocy of the word haunts me. If it were abolished, human thought might begin to make sense. I don't know what anything "is"; I only know how it seems to me at this moment"

You are a noob. I play on hard pc and dont use poison/traps because its
too bothersome and not needed. I also dont really use all abilities
except on boss fights. Normal fights autoattack+morrigan heal is
enough. 11 hours into the game and haven't come close to dieing yet. How are people so BAD.

*Sigh* Don't get me wrong. Apart from the insane difficulty level, I love this game. But as a role-player, I am playing the ROLE of a highly trained hero. So imagine how I feel when a group of drunken idiots with swords come along and totally destroy my party of highly trained people... And again.... and again... etc...

For the majority of the fights I've had, I've had to reload 2 to 3 times to get the job done. Almost every fight costs me all of my potions and injury kits. I'm all for a challenge, but this game has turned into the most reloads I've ever done EVER. If I actually spend a percentage of my time waiting for the last save to reload, then there's something wrong.

I would just like to point out that saying things like "l2p" and "if you haven't played baldurs gate you are doomed" is as unproductive as saying "this game sucks because it's hard". Some real advice would help.

Here is some good advice:

didn't win after 10 retries, try 100; didn't win after 100, try 1000; didn't win after 1000 try 10000; etc.

If you're micromanaging that much and being that tactical then... are you sure you didn't accidently set it on nightmare?

I'm playing on normal, and mostly letting the characters take care of themselves.  Though I do have a mage as my PC, who has almost the whole Heal line.  I've found that made things a lot easier, especially against the ogre, beat him my first go. ^_^

The PC difficulty is scaled significantly higher than that of the console.

I suspected as much.  Any official post/info on this?  A link would be cool.

Other people can play fine without doing what you "have" to do. The problem is you. Practice makes perfect. If you like the game, go play it and get better at it instead of complaining that some drunken idiots wiped the floor with your incompetent ass.
