Soldier, Paragon. Garrus romanced. Full team loyal *before* crew abducted. Neglected to check whether Boo was missing. Assumed he was for sake of rage.
Quick mining run for ship upgrades.
Omega 4 relay...
Shep /w Miranda + Grunt (drone invades cargo)
Legion goes in the pipe.
Shep /w Tali + Thane
Jacob leads team 2.
Garrus goes back /w crew.
Jacob leads team 2 (again)
Samara uses Barrier
Shep /w Tali + Thane
No losses. =) Wonder whether there's an element of chance? Hope so. New character going now.

Garrus led the groups both times.
Samara did my barrier.
Legion was my tech expert.
Jacob went back with survivors
When Occulus is in the ship, beat it with Jack and Grunt.
Through the collector base, had Miranda and Thane, with one Miranda and Grunt.
Nobody died at all, everything went well. I am shocked at how people chose Grunt to lead the secondary squad when Garrus is in. Garrus leading the party is basically the most obvious decision in the whole game.
Did anyone choose Miranda to do the barrier? I wonder how that would go.

I have Miranda lead the secondary teams, Samara do the barrier, Tali for Tech, Mordin took the survivors back.
From what I've heard, Miranda doing the barrier causes you to lose...which makes sense, since Samara is the most powerful biotic and can barely make it through. I would imagine Jack is the only other person who can handle the barrier

Vanguard, Paragon, Import
Legion = Tunnel Rat
Garrus = Fire Team lead both times
Jack = Shield
Mordin = Escort
Miranda (romanced because Ashley really gave me the old FU on Harmony) and Grunt = My team
Didn't know about the timer or would have left right after the attack...wanted 5/5 on all weapons first..(grumble)

Just watched the bloodbath video on youtube and the way everything went down, it was just so sad!
Joker was the only one left on the normandy.

Man, if my Shep wasn't being worshipped by her crew before, she will be after that.

Sensible? what was not sensible about having thane go through the vents to open the door? I did this and he diesizmirtheastarach wrote...
I am very surprised that so many people actually lost anyone. I found it very easy to keep everyone alive. As long as you actually play through all the content, and make sensible choices about the mission assignments, it's not difficult at all.

Thane isn't a tech expert. The sensible choice is someone who -is- a tech expert. As in, Tali or Legion.DarthRic wrote...

Jack wasn't loyal since she had a catfight with Miranda. Something killed her after she finishing shielding my group from the bugs. Thane took a round to the face when Shep closed a door. Grunt was dragged away and devoured by bugs. Samara died off camera.
I only really miss Grunt. Legion fills in nicely for him, though.

I choose him because I didn't think the game would take it into account who goes and I thought "well hes gonna die soon anyway so if the character here does have to die he would want to be the one so he goes out saving people" I felt bad but it was the logical choice to meAris Ravenstar wrote...
I noticed a lot of people putting Thane in the ducts for some reason. Is it because you guys thought the heat would clear up his watery lungs or something?

I picked Tali for the ducts. I was nervous because she was my LI, but the job called for a technician and she is a technical genius. I decided to trust in her despite my fears. She didn't let me down
I picked Garrus to lead the first fire team due to his experience leading that vigilante group back on Omega. Plus, Garrus is a badass.
Garrus also led the escort. He was going to be essentially alone, so I wanted a very proficient combatant who cared for the people he was escorting. Everyone made it back alive, including all crew members.
The second fire team was led by Miranda, because she is a smart girl who is a Cerberus Leader by trade. She did very well, although I held my breath a bit when she took a bullet. Sighed relief when she shook it off.
My biotic shield-bearer was Samara, because she is a wickedly powerful biotic with a millenia of experience. Everything went fine; she struggled a bit at the end, but she was impressive nonetheless. It was between her and Jack -- I may choose Jack next time just to see how she handles it.
The teams that came with me were Grunt/Samara, Thane/Tali, and Samara/Tali.
Oh, and Zaeed is an **** and if he had died I wouldn't have gone back and reloaded

I am sort of tooting my own horn I guess but i am just super excited that without help, without any advance knowledge whatsoever I was able to make the right choices and the right personnel decisions to keep everyone (including my crew) alive on my first attempt without retry.
I was so damn scared when I was having to choose who did what though!
Who else made it through on the first try?
I am uber excited to see who all I can kill now though!
I'm not trying to burst your bubble or offend you in any way; but I honestly felt like my hand was being held when it came to making decisions about who did what during the final mission and during the journey there. They not only told you what was needed for each role but gave you descriptions of each character on the selection screen. I would have prefered if they didn't do either. Then you would have to truely be a leader and decide based on what you know about your team just through playing the game.
It was too easy to figure out which person(s) was best for what job, imho.
