Wouldn't it be perfect to get down enemy shields?
Or better something with more protection? barrier? or another def skill?
AND: NO SPOILERS PLEASE!
Just had a major Samara spoiler while googling this...

Forgot to mention:
My main question is whether Energy drain adds to shields only or also to biotic barriers! So is it useful for adept or vanguard?

Barrier is the best, IMO. There are a few other protection abilities too (like fortification), but this one flavor wise fits great with Adepts.

I actually like geth shield if you do all the reserach. I get the one that gives me 10% more damage.
No i do not think shield drain is good for adept. Shields are really not a big problem because the submachine guns rape them so well already. And shields arent really very common in the tough late game stuff. Barrier and armor mostly.

Well, I'm not at this point anyway, so I'll see what's my biggest gameplay problem till then... But I guess it will be fragility...

I chose Reave. What's the difference?
Also, in case anyone was unclear, you can do Advanced Training repeatedly, given the resources.

Your Reave was super effective against Armor and Barriers!
I think Shield drain is super effective against shields and something else?
I'm using Reave but it does feel a little redundant with Warp.

I picked Energy Drain because then between that and Warp I'd be able to take down any sort of enemy protection whether it be shields, barrier, or armor which is especially useful on Insanity where damn near every enemy has one form of protection or another. However if you're playing on Veteran or below where most enemies aren't protected and susceptible to biotics, no bonus power is absolutely "needed" as you'll get through fine with your base powers so just pick whatever you think is cool. I personally picked Slam because it's a crowd control ability that let me incapacitate an enemy even if I put only one point into it.
On Insanity though, I picked Energy Drain (and moved all points I had in Pull into it as Pull and Singularity's uses can overlap) because I couldn't stick my head out long enough if there were a lot of enemies to drain down their shields with my submachine gun before getting killed. I guess you could argue if you had Barrier or some form of protection then you could stick your head out there more to shoot them down but there's limitations on protection abilities like having to wait for them to charge up every time they go down which made my progress overall slower than just waiting and either Energy Draining or Warping an enemy till I can Singularity them.
