Damn it, I thought it was close too. I thought it was going to happen. ARGH Bioware, why tease us!

This is exactly what happened to me: www.youtube.com/watch

Maybe in ME3 :crying:

Poor Shepard, cannot sleep with the daughter without your brain imploding nor sleep with the mother because... I don't know why.

She's old, she's had a family, experienced that sort of life. I was really hoping for a Samara romance too but even without one, I still enjoyed the character. Samara in general, as well as Illium, was a nice way for Bioware to explore asari culture more.

A nice scene, regardless.

Because it wouldn't have went anywhere when the mission was over. She also said because she wasn't a madien anymore.

Hopefully it comes up in ME 3. I felt kinda cheated that she wasn't a romance option because she would have been my first choice.

What was the dialog tree you followed to get this cutscene? The closest I got was her telling me if she were younger she would have thrown me to the floor.

Yeah I'd like to know the dialog tree that got you there as well.

Oh, yeah, you can't have a romance with a woman sworn to celibacy.

TOTALLY didn't see that coming.

That wasn't me in the video, but I've got it before. Recruit Samara as early as possible and keep talking to her after every mission.

Um, she even says herself that romance is not forbidden...she just swore not to have children.

Who said she was sworn to celibacy? She just foreswears her family and past. She can still indulge in some pleasure if she can find it.

What I heard is that when she talks about being a friend, instead of going paragon and saying I'm glad we're friends, choose the renegade option which is I want more. Say goodbye instead of saying we can just have sex when that option appears. Then ... I guess continue the story then talk to her and that will show up.

Yeah, she shot me down too. After I helped kill her favourite daughter and everything.

I mean, that usually works, right? I thought we'd bonded!

Oh yeah, I remember you kids from before ME2 was released.

And I'll say what I said then: I would have lost all respect for her character (as would have many people) if a person who at least SEEMED to be chaste ended up banging Shep because he said some nice things. I like her character much more from the fact that she's basically a MILF, but refuses to do it with you (despite Asari sexualization -- perhaps BECAUSE of it). If you had her as a LI option, well, I would have hated Asari from then on, because that just cements my view of them as sex toys for Shepard.

I'm glad she isn't romanceable, for several reasons that people have stated a million times.

Kid? That's funny, I'm 22 years old and have been with my fiancee for 6 years now. Don't assume please.

I'd say all the human characters are sex toys then, you know, given we've had ONE Asari romance and...what, 6 human romances so far?

Agreed. Seriously, all these humans we meet are setting a bad name for humanity's relationship styles. We need more nice, stable Asari.

A weak deflection (that I see all the time) that refuses to answer your own desire's inherent problems.

So far, we have had 3 new Asari squadmates. Liara and Morinth both want -- nay, CRAVE -- a relationship with you, albeit for more powah in the latter's case. There is also, of course, the Consort, and arguably all of the strippers throughout both games. Both of those parties are lascivious (sp) distractions.

Now, every human character has been designed to be attractive in some way, and has some sort of motivation behind seeking a romantic interest. This, and they don't throw themselves at you -- except, of course, for Jack. You have to dig down to what they are like underneath. All of them are in your age range, and appeal to a different aspect -- bad boys/girls, people seeking 'equals', those who wish to comfort people who have been hurt before, etc. Under normal circumstances, you can't romance 'em all, and each is targeted at a different 'normal' player (who doesn't want to do the dirty with an alien).

Now, we have three aliens, who come from a race known even in-universe, as "the sex machines of the Milky Way" (a concept they are supposedly trying to eliminate), and if Samara had been a LI, all shamelessly have sex with Shepard. No, before you start, Quarians, Turians, and Drell don't count with your weak counterargument, because there has only been one example of each, the former two having had two games to form relations with Shepard. So are you really so desparate for every Asari squadmate in the game to be romanceable that you would have a respectable Matriarch throw her dedication to the mission aside for a random fling with a human?
