This game really did upgrade on the whole weapon's system, adding the Heavy Weapons and SMG's really improved the game I think. But what really dissapointed me is that while there were a great many Heavy Weapon's, there was only 2 SMG's in the entire game, and just a few Assualt Rifles, Shotguns, Heavy Pistols, and Sniper Rifle's. I really hope they give us a bunch more weapons in ME3, because lack of weapons is a definite downgrade from ME1...

PS: Does anyone know where the second SMG is? I found it my first playthrough, but now that I can acutally use an SMG I can't seem to find it ANYWHERE! lol thanks     :alien:

The weapons are a major upgrade over ME1 in my opinion. Now only do you have a ton of heavy weapons, but assault rifles, snipers, shotguns, pistols, and SMGs are actually different this time around, as opposed to ME1 where each gun was pretty much just a different color than the next.

Booooring.

I would disagree with Shin. While I agree the system was better, the choices were still lacking. I'd prefer 10 different copies of each weapon, ones that all offered enough variation to effectively compliment differing playstlyes!

What variation? There was no variation, one just shot a little faster than the others, or did a little more damage. One being blue, another being gray, another being red is hella boring in my opinion.

I think the only weapon that I absolutely LOVED in this game was the Sniper Rifle that you could just had like 10 rounds a clip. But I think the reason I fell in love with that gun, is because there was only like 2 other choices! And I agree with you shin that in ME1 most of the weapons were copies of each other, but instead of throwing all the weapons out, maybe they could have kept a lot of weapons for each class and customized each one making them different.

It would be nice to have 1 more pistol and 1 more SMG, so there would be at least 3 of each.

Ew, no way.

I think it would be perfect if they kept it the way it is now, but added the swappable upgrades back in from the first one. Not 10 levels of upgrades, but basically keep the same ones.

I like the weapon system in ME2. But I agree that it felt a little lacking in the "upgrade" department.

Boy was I disappointed when I couldn't put all those nifty upgrades to customize my weaponry and armor. Of course, in ME1, I was utterly sick of the massive amounts of useless loot you got (oh, boy..more omni gel..as if I didn't already have enough of it that I NEVER USE!!!). I'd purpose the ability to customize your weapons, but through research, buying and finding, like in the ME2. Once you have the project done, you can then customize the thing to your heart's content..WITHOUT the mess of having 10 different copies of the exact same upgrade.

Wasn't there talk about DLC's containing new weapons, apart from new missions and squad mates?

It's a personal thing, I actually like the minute level of control. the 5% faster shooting v 5% more power. I want that back... As opposed to, this is my rifle, it has all the upgrades, it always does the exact same thing, there is no variation, no real change.
