No, Duncan fought against him in the book, not directly, but they are not the same person. Still I expect Duncan to show up later in extentions or sequels as dark spawn prisoner.

She was not freed. Just reverted to her "actual" state. Remember that it was the brooch that advanced the taint, and once the brooch was off, the taint went back.

Gods, I've just read it, may have to re-read. I actually thought her pregnancy rid her body of the taint completely. In effect, she is no longer a Grey Warden.

Gods, I've just read it, may have to re-read. I actually thought her pregnancy rid her body of the taint completely. In effect, she is no longer a Grey Warden.

I could be wrong, of course, but from what I understood, she hasn't been a gry warden for much time, which means her body could be capable of concieve. Additionally, the taint acceleration was caused by the brooch. Without it, her body returned to her actual state of taint and not the induced one.

Remember also that she goes to to the grey warden's fortress in orlais after she talks to Maric.

Hmmm....just finished RtO. I think you lot might have a point. Think about it-- the party ensures that Cailan's equipment is recovered and he has a proper funeral pyre, but Duncan's sword and dagger are removed. Frankly, narrative speaking, why didn't Alistair insist on looking for Duncan? I mean, you're fighting right where he fell. One can only assume that Duncan's body isn't there anymore, for whatever reason.

Woops, your totally right, been a while since i read it so it's a bit foggy
But still Duncan could be reverded to a state where the taint doesn't turn in a ghoul as it would eventually do as the Architect doesn't seem interested at all in Ghouls.

There is a corpse with a beard on the circular platform near the training dummies by duncan's fire. Looks just like him. No other recognizable corpses besides Cailan are in the whole area. He's dead.
