But isn't the chance to make a child for one Grey Warden incredibly slim already? I thought Fiona said so. Funny how man people think that a very slim chancr of conceiving will definitely lead to an heir.

Um if your a male n you romanced Morrigan n didn't do the ritual at the end you get a dialogue that says Morrigan is seen in so n so place n she's with child... If you can get Morrigan pregnant after becoming a Warden then why couldn't you with someone else...

Because chances are slim. You're very lucky knocking up Morrigan without the ritual. Very lucky!

Maybe it isn't even your child.

The child is yours actually... If you never sleep with her(or play as a female) she will leave for Orlais without a child.

But if you sleep with her just ONCE and refuse the ritual, the epilogue will mention that she's pregnant and there are rumors going around that she was the lover of The Warden..

I think the Bioware writers used a smart trick in the epilogue considering Morrigans pregnancy, think the epilogue never actually states she was with child but it states she "may" have been with child...

About the chances to get her pregnant, perhaps the ritual is not speficially for the archdemon soul, but just a ritual to ensure pregnancy... this would also (granted with one major flaw) be a solution to having a child with the old gods soul in future stories without doing the ritual but still sleeping with her somewhere in the game, ofc the flaw is that a warden might still perish, but I'm sure creative writing could fix that! ;)

I also highly doubt the child can be a vessel for Morrigan since she does not have a demon inside her (as far as we know) whereas Flemeth does if we believe the tales. Personally I think Morrigan needs the child to protect herself from Flemeth in some way or another or she just wants to preserve the old god (althought that would probably be too simple an answer). One other possibility is that she can learn from the old god, I read somewhere that one of the old gods taught the Tevinter mages magic, to combine those theories... Perhaps she hopes the child can teach her to protect herself from being taken over by Flemeth?

The ritual first came from Flemeth n I think Flemeth can use the child as a vessel but she didn't tell Morrigan this, so when Morrigan found out thats how Flemeths been able to last for so long she realized what her mother really had intentions on doing... Flemeth convinced Morrigan to do the ritual in order to preserve the old god but I don't think she told Morrigan the reason why... That's why Morrigan flipped out n asked you to take care of Flemeth but the main thing Morrigan wanted was that grimoir... That book might have information to keep Flemeth from taking Morrigan n child over...

If you play as female, Morrigan will ask to sleep with Alistair or Loghain.

I know. But we were talking about variations of the ending if you refused the dark ritual. If you play as a male character and sleep with her at camp she will end up pregnant in the epilogue. Possibly without the Old Gods soul in this case.

My Elf Mage didn't have any preference for hereditary monarchy over other forms of government. So in both of her kingmaking episodes, she opted for proven administrative ability over royal blood, choosing both Harrowmont and Anora (without Alistair).

From that perspective, childless Anora presents a great opportunity for social engineering! After *her* successor is chosen, Ferelden will have had to pick its ruler w/o regard for a royal bloodline twice running, which should establish the precedent nicely.
