Do you only die if you litterally do no loyalty quests and no ship upgrades? or if you get one loyalty mission done will you survive?

I think Shep dies if everyone else dies. But yeah, you pretty much have to TRY to make him die. Unless you really, really suck.

I wonder. If Miranda is with you when Shepard tells the Illusive Man he's destroying the base, and the Illusive man orders Miranda to stop shepard, will she kill him if her loyalty isn't there?

Shepherd has no way to die. Unless you named your character Commander Shepherd Shepard... In this case, you have to be really careless to kill him/her. You know, absolutely ignore the preparation for the suicide mission.

Yeah, you have to get everyone else killed off. Make sure not to upgrade the Normandy and purposefully choose unsuitable characters during the final mission. Then when you jump to get back on the Normandy at the end, Joker tries to pull you up but gets shot at, and you let go so he can escape (normally one of your party members helps you up).

I thought Mass Effect was suppose to be a triloy and that Commander shepard was an important character to the game?

She was loyal to me and she resigned from Ceberus when Illusive man orders her to stop Shepard.

I'm pretty sure an ending where Shepard dies isn't going to be canon - they said that it wouldn't be available for import to ME3 if he did.

Okay so if get this right, he does not have to die if you do things right...

And i really hope they wont kill him for good in ME3 becouse i would really like to have a good ending for Comander Shepard Image IPB

Correct.  It's common to lose some team members during the last mission, but you have to do an absolutely terrible job to get Shepard himself killed.  If you're even trying at all he will make it.

The ability to play joker in ME3 seems promising, yet my love for Jack soldiers on.

Storm in unprepared and you'll die.

And if Shepard dies in ME2, Conrad Verner will take his place in ME3 with his cheap plastic N7 imitation.

He's a man on the edge! He's got nothing to lose!

Well, maybe Shepard won't be the main protagonist in ME3, so we will play someone else (the SECOND human ever to become a spectre - or maybe the first human to join the Salarian STG!) and whether he lived or died in ME2 just influence the background setting - kinda like if we choose to let Udina or Anderson become the Councillor...

To get Shepard to die, you have to do many things in an exact order.

You have to not upgrade a single part of the ship.

You can't upgrade any of your squad members weapons/armor, as if its upgraded, they have a tiny chance of surviving the last stand, and if they do, they'll save you at the end.

You can't do any of the loyalty missions, this is actually fairly hard to pull off, if you haven't done a certain amount of loyalty missions, then EDI will wait for anywhere from 6-9 extra quests before telling you that you obviously don't care about the mission, and telling you to leave so she can calibrate the ship, this means you have to gather everyone up, then find 9 or so random side missions to do that have nothing to do with the loyalty quest.

You don't HAVE to kill Grunt and Legion but it helps.

The thing is, its really not something you can just stumble your way in to doing, you have to have planned to kill him, and anyone who says they did so accidentally is lying through their teeth, while its understandable that you may not upgrade your ship, and you may have also had Legion and Grunt killed, there is no way anyone would skip every single loyalty quest in the game, especially with the huge gap between the IFF and the attack, you'd basically have to have ignored Kelly, the massive amount of emails, and have avoided talking to any of your crew-members for the entire game and instead go dick around with anomalies.

Basically, its harder to get Shepard killed, than to survive.

Real answer: If Shep dies, you can't import that game into ME3.

Well... you can do some of the loyalty missions, but you have to screw up your party selections.  Like, if you did Legion's loyalty mission and put him in the tunnel, but then chose a crappy fire team leader he would die.  Or if you had loyal team mates but an unloyal or insufficient biotic, the loyal person could be carried off by the swarm.

But basically, yeah... having everyone die is pretty hard.

If you don't have someone to help you up, you'll die on your fateful jump. I think it takes at least 2 loyal squad members to survive.
