Do you only die if you litterally do no loyalty quests and no ship upgrades? or if you get one loyalty mission done will you survive?

Well... you can do some of the loyalty missions, but you have to screw up your party selections. Like, if you did Legion's loyalty mission and put him in the tunnel, but then chose a crappy fire team leader he would die. Or if you had loyal team mates but an unloyal or insufficient biotic, the loyal person could be carried off by the swarm.

But basically, yeah... having everyone die is pretty hard.

It depends.

If you do loyalty quests, you have to do the loyalty quests of specific people you know you will kill, for example, doing Legions loyalty quest, then putting Thane in charge of the Fireteams so he will die in the end, but that only really works with Legion/Tali, both of whom should be dead already if you are going for a Shepard death.

The problem is, if you upgrade your squad, or do their loyalty quest and then don't manage to kill them before the last stand section, they will most likely survive that fight, and will get picked up by Joker before you, so they will be able to catch you when you do your leap of faith, for example, if you do Thanes loyalty quest, and kill off near everyone else, then Thane will be on the ship to catch you and bring you on board with Jokers help, even though everyone else is dead.

You need to have every other squad member dead for Shepard to also be killed, the reason you die is Joker is the only person on board the Normandy, and he can't catch Shepard due to his Vroliks, so you fall to your death rather then get caught and brought back on board, but if even one squad member survives the last stand, they will be there.

You can do loyalty missions actually. But during the mission send your loyal members to their doom like putting loyal Thane in the vents.

If he dies in the end of ME2 who will you be in ME3?

You cant import to ME3 if Shep dies....Meaning you still play as "a" Shepard just not your Shepard...Bioware has already said this numerous times.

I wonder. If Miranda is with you when Shepard tells the Illusive Man he's destroying the base, and the Illusive man orders Miranda to stop shepard, will she kill him if her loyalty isn't there?

Thats a very good question!.

Anyone tried this?.

To get Shepard to die, you have to do many things in an exact order.

You have to not upgrade a single part of the ship.

You can't upgrade any of your squad members weapons/armor, as if its upgraded, they have a tiny chance of surviving the last stand, and if they do, they'll save you at the end.

You can't do any of the loyalty missions, this is actually fairly hard to pull off, if you haven't done a certain amount of loyalty missions, then EDI will wait for anywhere from 6-9 extra quests before telling you that you obviously don't care about the mission, and telling you to leave so she can calibrate the ship, this means you have to gather everyone up, then find 9 or so random side missions to do that have nothing to do with the loyalty quest.

You don't HAVE to kill Grunt and Legion but it helps.

The thing is, its really not something you can just stumble your way in to doing, you have to have planned to kill him, and anyone who says they did so accidentally is lying through their teeth, while its understandable that you may not upgrade your ship, and you may have also had Legion and Grunt killed, there is no way anyone would skip every single loyalty quest in the game, especially with the huge gap between the IFF and the attack, you'd basically have to have ignored Kelly, the massive amount of emails, and have avoided talking to any of your crew-members for the entire game and instead go dick around with anomalies.
I literally just completed the game, and accidentally killed him. I did almost every loyalty mission, Legion and Grunt were alive (until the end), I took my crew members on missions, I was paragon, and I had upgraded things. I don't understand how everyone and I had died.

You could have made really bad choices picking people to do certain tasks in the last mission.

Shepard only dies if none of your squad survives the actually mission because joker isnt strong enough to lift you up with his brittle bone disease and all.
