Yeah, I bought the game on friday (Best Buy Retail Copy). Installed and tried running it. At first, it would get to the "Press any key to continue screen", when I tried to, the game would fade out, but instead of showing the menu, the screen would go flash briefly, go black, and die. I would need to restart to get back to functionality.
I managed to solve that problem, by resetting my GFX settings back to their basics, but a new problem emerges. Then I would get to the cuscene, and the crash would happen about when the woman starts talking about Shepard and the Geth. I solved that one through the forums, by replacing OpenAl32.dll, and wrap_oal.dll, from my System32 folder, to the ME2 binaries folder.
Thought I would be good after that one, but sadly, not. Now, I make it through the menu, through the cutscene, all the way to where I first take control of Shepard. The game runs fine for a few moments, to the point where Joker says "Mayday, this the SSV Normandy". Then the game runs for a few seconds, then crashes. The audio freezes up first, then the black screen happens, and I have to reboot.
I have updated my video drivers to the most current set, I'm running XP SP3, and I meet and exceed all the hardware requirements.
Any help?
