  What class are they, I really want to use them both in my party as well as Morrigan. I plan to play as a warrior so I would like to know if I'm going to have to tank. This isn't my ideal playstyle as I'd prefer to use two-handers or dual wielding so being able to use War Dog or Shale as tanks would be of great use to me.

I've read that Shale makes a good tank. Not so much for the Dog; he's more of a DPS/off-tank.

They are their own classes, Golem and War Dog.



I do not think either has a taunt or aggro increase, though. I could be quite wrong.

Thats more than good enough for me, my main party focus is melee with Morrigan for spells and healing.

They are both warriors. Golem and War Dog are more like their weapon talents.



That being said, War Dog's talents lend more towards DPS, while Shale has many more options, and can be built for tanking, DPS, or even ranged. In my experience, he is a very nice tank indeed.

Dog is broken.

His howl which is a HUGE AoE stun/weaken is just insane.



He's not the best tank (he's still damn good at it though)... but he's crazy on offense.

I haven't found him to be much better on defense than a rogue in medium armor, and while his CC is great, that's really all he's got, his DPS is fair but not sure if it compares to rogue DPS. He's sort of a jack of all trades without any particular stand out abilities.

Shale is an insane tank with a few talents, huge hps and very good aggro generating skills.

Well, he's been tearing things to shreds for me. And he's lasting longer than Alistair with sword and board.

But once you start going up his sheild tree and slap some massive armor on him (I went with Juggy Armor myself)  Alistair will be able to take a huge beating even by mobs.

So far, only my Arcane Warrior has been topped Alistair in the tank department.

Shale is useful as a tank/DPS/heals&buffs



Dog is useful for DPS, crowd control, and eating mages.
