This is not ALL the time, just frequent enough to be annoying.

It isn't the game, at least it wasn't for the only two (above that quote's position in the thread) who chose to admit they were trying to run the game on crap for video. If you don't meet the minimums in this game, you have to run your junk video on 800 by 600 pixel screens to allow the interaction to work correctly.vedrit wrote...
I really hope this is being noticed and addressed. Its making the final mission hard (Had to restart, now nothing is auto-targeting again)
It isn't a "bug", it's bad hardware, so it won't ever be "fixed" from Bioware's end.

What hardware do you have exactly?Mr. Shepard wrote...
I have all the required hardware and it happens to me all the time. Most of the time I have to go to the menu screen and exit quickly hitting space. And forget about seeing the enemies health.
The direct cause of this is a low framerate so running the game at an insanely high resolution on medium hardware can cause the same problem.

Heck, even my crappy 6 year old PC is able to run the game and i don't meet the system requirements CPU wise. The rest is fine, for minimum settings of course. Still looks and runs awesome.
My PC:
Windows XP Pro SP3
AMD Athlon XP 3200+ (yes, the old 32Bit Singlecore CPU)
2 GB DDR1-400 RAM (2x1GB)
nVidia Geforce 6800GT AGP 256MB (Forceware 196.21)
Creative Audigy 2ZS
No overclocking.
Just as an example for others.

Funny that all the others who complain about their problems still haven't posted their hardware specs.

We have serious doubts that you actually know what the requirements really are:Mr. Shepard wrote...

So the game runs perfectly until the addons. After uninstalling and completely deleting the games subfolders and folder left over after uninstalling and reinstalling (this time without the addons) the game continues to run stuttering and awkwardly. So now I can't hardly play. The REAL question is, what did bioware screw up in the addons that has changed the video/sound/drivers of my computer? I ask this because other games have been affected as well although I can still play. My computer is perfectly capable of handling Mass Effect 2 with ease and yet problems remain.
I have looked for a resolution to this for over a 2 months changing every setting known to man and the game continues to act the same. Messing with all my drivers: updating and syncing with other drivers, and updating (of course) hoping bioware will finally come out with an answer. As you can see, I'm not happy about what has happened to my computer.
Windows 7 (64 bit)
Alienware M15x
Intel® Core i7 CPU Q 820 @ 1.73GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GT 240M
Installed Memory: 6,132.50 MB
This is just a brief description of my computer to let you know what kind of computer we're talking about(I hate placing down a list of all my computer specs unless absolutely necessary). Anyway, I certainly would like to see something happen from bioware.
Another EA owned game: Command & Conquer 4, didn't even work at all and stuttered with the settings all set to the lowest and messed my computer up as well. They finally released the latest patch and now it works fine, and all graphics and gameplay are set to maximum like it should on a system such as mine. If they could finally make C&C4 work on my computer, why not a simple targeting and stuttering problem?

Because the manufacturers will not adhere to the example that nVIDIA recommends, companies such as EA have no choice other than to decline to offer support to laptops.

um i have a different problem, and i dont really know if it relates, but i need help nontheless. If i enter the tactical view where it pauses the game, and i leave it, the top and left sides of my screen turn orange, and if i alt-tab out, it turns back to normal. it also happens when i am passing a label on the galaxy map, and its really irritating. i have it for steam, the digital deluxe edition, and i DEFINITELY pass the minimum requirements. although im running it on a laptop, i have an ati radeon mobility hd 5870 graphics card, on windows 7 with a core i7 1.60 ghz processor, which overclocks to a max of 2.8 ghz, usually when im playing games, like this. anyone have an idea as to fix this?
you said the magic word... laptop. minor incompatibility issues with mobile cards are common.. it seems a trivial matter you should beable to live with it.. in an attemp to fix it all i can say is try update you 5870 drivers with your laptop manufacturers redesigned drivers... if it still causes problems I have known people to use 3rd party drivers. could try the PC versions but at your own risk.

Huh. Odd. I have the same card and I don't get this error. Did you get the latest drivers from ATI? Also if you have the OC turned on you might want to turn it off. Some people claim games like ME2 work better with OC off.
