I know, impatient. But damn, this game was so good, I'm so pumped for ME3....I wouldn't mind 10 more ME games haha!

Actually, I think ME3 will come out sooner than most think. I remember Bioware saying they're planning on releasing it as soon as possible rather than later, and they also already have the conclusion(s) of ME3 done.

I'm guessing a mid to late 2011 release.

WIshful thinking is wishful.

I'd assume the distance between 2 and 3 will be similar to the distance between 1 and 2- so mid 2012 would be my pick.

I would assume that too if Bioware didn't say what they did.

I'm waiting for ME2 DLCs, thinking ME2 was "short"; felt like ME1 expansion.

I hope ME3 is not like this..

No, they said it would be two years and oddly enough no complaint to Bioware, BUt usually when they set a date, it get's pushed back further then that. I.E., Dragon age Orgins and RTO. Two year's from 2010 would be 2012, I say expect it early 2013

Though the game is fun and even if they release a dozen DLC. I don't know if that's enough to keep my saved game resting idley for two years, just to export it into ME3. I will say the graphics are very visual, storylines are nice

My only complaint was with romance secne, they only talked to you so much after a mission. Then they would say come back later and in Dragon Age, you could turn to the party member and ask them about the place they were in etc

In this encounter you couldn't enter direct digloge with another party member unless it was intended for a cut secne for a convo with a NPC and your companion. It found myself rushing through a mission just to hear a few more words after the mission was done

Really? Wow, took me 38 hours to beat it with almost all sidequests done. How is that "short"!?

Short??? I used 39 hours to complete everything. How did that become short?

ME 1 took me 24 hours, ME 2 has been 37 so far with more quests to do.  How is that shorter>

You've already been pounded pretty thoroughly for this comment, but in any event-

I think ME1 took me about 30 hours to get through on my first play- this one took just over 40. Then again I did just about everything.

Bioware was talking in an article, they mentioned they had two years worth of DLC for Mass Effect two. Let's read into that article, they said they were already working on Mass Effect 3...let's say they finish that..it's 2010, so it would have to "least" be another year that's 2011...

Now work into time for bugs/glitches/added DLC to keep us busy and counter that with Star Wars taking their attention in 2011 and promoting that, that would be nearing 2012..then be least six months before actual release date to pre order

Remember Mass Effect 2, I read that it was done nearly eight months ago however it was only released on the 26th of this month, though not saying it wouldn't be nice for them to slide a sequal into a game in a year and a half..just saying, don't see it happening

They don't have to rebuild the whole engine quite as much, but then again, fine tuning is sometimes a lot more time consuming than overhauling.

I think the DLC will make the wait bearable. It will at least mean having more content on occasion, rather than just playing the same content over and over ;P

don't know if this helps but ign has mass effect 3 listed as TBA 2011. Now that probably means they will announce a release date in 2011 but we can hope that means that it will release in 2011.

I believe another Bioware team is working on Star Wars, like how 2 teams were working on both ME2 and Dragon Age. I also thought it would release around 2012, but I don't simply because Bioware (Casey Hudson and Ray Muzyka) said they want to release sooner than the time difference between ME1 and ME2, which was about 2 years. That heavily inclines me to believe it'll probably take a year and a half or so, not to mention Bioware said they already have the conclusion to ME3 done, so they don't have to worry about story elements.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were already working on ME3 during ME2's development, though on the side.

We'll have other Bioware games to tide us over until the next game as well as DLC.

Even though right now I can't help but squirm from the thought of such a long wait, thinking about what to look forward to, what to worry about, and just generally speculate.

Wait for the next game, because Mass Effect is a franchise and not a mere trilogy.

I loved ME2 too and while I'm more pumped for the release of ME3 than I've ever been for a game before, I'd just assume Bioware take their time to do it right.

As much as I'd like to have my hands on it as soon as possible I don't want to sacrifice quality. I want that game to be the best it can be when it's released, no shortcuts.

i say around 2 years, ME3 went under development before ME 2 came out and they perfected the technical issues for ME 2 so ME 3 should take less time than the previous two.

Play the MMO.

Please make an MMO.  It'd be my first and only MMO.

Both ME1 and ME2 have the most satisfactory conclusions in games yet.  They really make me feel like i accomplished something.

Mass effect definally has the history behind it and pretty much background to make a MMO pretty simple to make...but im not sure how theyd go about it without being a WoW clone....or an EvE clone..

well im pretty sure casey hudson said that they plan to have 2 years worth of DLC like DA:O so they probably won't release ME3 while ME2 DLC is still rolling out. My guess is 2012. Only about 730 days left guys!

While I am very anxious for Mass Effect 3, I don't want it to be released too soon. I think early 2012 would be reasonable.
